Monday, May 23, 2022, Metropol building in Abadan collapsed. Islamic Republic officials admit the 10-story building which was still under construction but had been opened to public, was not up to code! The original structure was supposed to be 6-story only but Hossein Abdolbaghi, owner and CEO of Abdolbaghi Holdings was able to get approval for additional floors without changing anything in the construction plans, and the Mayor of Abadan and other officials turned a blind eye to the shortcomings. Metropol was neither illegally built nor was it old! It was rooted in the Islamic Republic corruption at all levels.

The collapse has killed unaccounted number of Abadan residents. Islamic Republic authorities claim only 19 have been found dead and 3 are in critical condition. However, citizen reports indicate more than 50 are still missing and more than 70 have died. The regime, instead of sending search and rescue teams, deployed its anti-riot police to the area and shut down the internet! While people are still searching for their loved ones empty-handed, head of Crisis Management Organization announced tonight the search and rescue mission will end!

Meanwhile, Islamic Republic “Supreme Leader”, who issues sympathy messages for any mullah who dies, has refused to issue any condolences message to the people of Abadan. It took him 4 days to “wish people of Abadan patience!” His Kayhan newspaper has been condemning people for thanking rescue dogs helping them in finding their loved ones, but refuses to publish anything about the incident in its front page!

On the other hand, people chased the Mayor in Abadan with “get lost” chants.

Their mourning turned into a crowded protest against the regime with chants such as: “I will kill whoever killed my brother,” “Our enemy is right here, they lie saying it’s US,” “Mullah get lost,” “Our shame, our shame, our radio & TV,” “Reza Shah, God bless your soul,” and so on.

To control the situation and reduce people’s wrath, the Attorney General of Abadan claimed Hossein Abdolbaghi has been identified as one of the dead! However, Abadanis do not believe the officials, chanting: “Abdolbaghi isn’t dead, they’re lying!” Islamic Republic media, on Monday, reported that he was arrested. But then, officials said media had made a mistake! The AG claimed the body was first identified by Abdolbaghi’s family and his fingerprint and today announced his DNA results confirmed he was killed in the incident. The head of Medical Examiner Office of Isfahan had previously attested DNA identification takes between 3 days to 1 month. Abdolbaghi’s supposed body is “DNA identified” in less than 2 days after the body was found.

Islamic Republic remains on edge, afraid of any kind of gathering. People are angry and everybody is ready to explode at any moment. Other cities have announced their solidarity and preparedness to join the protests. The regime prefers suppressing and killing its people rather than saving them from under the rebels. Khamenei prefers not to speak because he knows nothing can calm people anymore, they want him and his regime gone!
