70 days since the first official case in Iran has been announced and the novel coronavirus is till ravaging through the country and there is no sign of slowing down despite what Rouhani’s administration and Islamic Republic in general would like the people to believe. 1,112 new cases and 71 deaths have been confirmed according to the Ministry of Health Spokesman, Kianoush Jahanpur.
In his video press conference today, in response to a question about the evidence provided by Iran International which we reported yesterday, he said, “These are all political opinions.” He continued, “We don’t gather our daily data from the HIS. Our data is up to date and there’s no delay. HIS is offline. From the sampling time to recording takes maximum of 24 hours. The systems some people refer to may have delays of up to 45 days!” This short response raises more questions and cast even more doubts on the daily “official” numbers! For example, where do they get their numbers then? Everything is supposed to be centralized and connected, which includes MCMC and HIS used by all hospital in the country! WHO uses a country’s known systems for its records, what is it for Iran?! And many more…

Jahanpur added, “30-35% of our ICU beds is available. Most of our hospital beds designated for COVID-19 patients are available for other patients if needed.” This is after they claim the crisis is under control. On April 1, Rouhani had said, “Not only the usual beds but ICU beds are empty in many cities as well. We have a total of 6,800 ICU beds, 4,000 of them are being used.” This means almost a month ago when the situation was much worse (according to official data), more than 41% of ICU beds were handy! How does this work?!
He also said wearing masks in the subway is mandatory and in response to shortage of masks he said, “We’re not responsible for manufacturing masks! We advise residents to use homemade masks.” Apparently nothing is his responsibility and doesn’t like answering questions! He can only spew out lies and nonsense about others.
Rouhani doubles down on lying about sanctions impeding regime’s abilities to contain the virus in his phone call to South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa. He said, “US has violated international and “world health” laws by continuing its maximum pressure on Islamic Republic.” Isn’t the virus contained already?! If it is, then what is all this fuss about? If it is not, why do you lie to Iranians and the world?! How about all the evidence and speeches by President Trump, Pompeo, Brian Hook,… about the fact that humanitarian and medical aids are not sanctioned at all?
