Iran has become a slaughterhouse with Mashhad, Tehran, Fars, Qom, Hormozgan, Bushehr, Kerman, Isfahan, Gilan,… in the heart of it all. Head of ICU ward in a Mashhad hospital says 40% of ICU patients die of COVID-19 within 24-36 hours after admission! Head of Health Network in Kohgiloyeh-Boyerahmad warned that the healthcare system is on the verge of collapse. Kermanshah sets a new record for hospitalizations. Isfahan Medical University urges medical and nursing students to help with the patients, “we’re short of physicians and nurses!”
Ministry of Health added 23 new cities to the previous 336 “red” areas in Iran. While the statistics provided by the regime has been discredited since day one and even Deputy Health Minister Harirchi admitted the real numbers are “definitely much higher,” Dr. Najafi, Deputy Health Minister in Research and Technology, in a letter to the Saeed Namaki, requested that all Muharram gatherings, even the outdoor ones to be cancelled, otherwise the daily COVID-19 death toll will reach 800! He mentions this number is an optimistic projection considering the situation does not change. Najafi predicts the exacerbation of the situation due to the recent gatherings and slow vaccination.
Hospitals are unable to cope with the flood of patients. Some hospitals in Mashhad are even out of gurneys while others have filled their corridors. Bodies pile up in morgues and cemeteries overloaded with corpses. Dr. Choobdar from a hospital in Tehran warned that 20% of ICU beds are occupied with COVID-19 kids, and cited the number of sick kids has doubled in the fifth wave, dominated by Delta variant.
Delta variant continues its rampage in the country while Islamic Republic keeps ignoring the facts and insists on holding crowded Muharram gatherings. While Mashhad is experiencing hell, head of its Islamic Propaganda Organization, an organization under Khamenei’s supervision, announced it has issued 1,000 permits for holding Muharram assemblies! Today, Khamenei’s Chief of Staff said Muharram gatherings must be held and encouraged people to attend them: “The mourning gatherings surely help reduce the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths, not increase them.” He blamed the imaginary “enemy” working on the “choices between mourning (Hossein) or health!”
The dreadful confessions of Dr. Zali, Chairman of Tehran Corona Combating Committee, together with chaotic and slow vaccination process, have sparked a wave of people blaming Khamenei and the Islamic Republic responsible for the 18-month long ongoing crisis in Iran. The former Chair of National Security Commission at the Islamic Republic “parliament” says Iran is behind vaccination because Russians did not deliver on their promises and “we refused to get others’ vaccines because of Russia.” According to Ministry of Health, since February 9, total of 18,056,417 shots have been administered and 3,610,775 (4.29% of population) are fully vaccinated with ineffective vaccines against Delta.
Shortage of vaccine in the country, is showing its first signs. Yesterday, Qazvin suspended its “second dose administration” and today, Hormozgan issued the same type of statement! However, the regime prioritizes its relationship with another dictatorship over Iranians. The Islamic Republic is sending the Chinese Sinopharm vaccines it has purchased with Iranians’ money to Venezuela! It is worth mentioning, the discrepancy between the regime’s Customs statement on number of imported vaccines and IranTrue’s vaccine tracker showing more than 3million doses difference, could be explained now!
Sima Sadat Lari claimed 527 died of COVID-19 in Iran in the past 24 hours and 39,119 tested positive for the novel coronavirus. As seen on the graphs, active and critical cases continue to soar and daily PCR testing is reduced.
