Number of daily coronavirus cases in Iran sets a new record since the epidemic began 18 months ago. According to the manipulated and undercounted data of Islamic Republic Ministry of Health, 50,228 tested positive in the past 24 hours while 625 more Iranians passed away from COVID-19. Deputy Health Minister Harirchi had admitted the real numbers are “definitely much higher” and the release of Civil Registration Organization shed some light on how much! Today, Dr. Harirchi said the daily death toll will be increasing for another 3 weeks at least. At the same time, he claimed 14 provinces are showing signs of passing the peak but he stopped short of naming those provinces. Harirchi did mention Muharram gatherings play a significant role in how the Delta will act in the upcoming weeks. The same Muharram gatherings which no restriction is followed and have caused soaring number of cases across the country.
About 900 COVID-19 patients are admitted to Khorasan Razavi hospitals every day, in Kermanshah that number is 350, and in Ardabil more than 800 are currently hospitalized. Lorestan reports more than 1,200 COVID-19 patients in its hospitals, Saveh in Markazi province is preparing field hospitals, and Hamedan warns about shortage of beds and healthcare staff if the current rate of infection continues. Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari officials admit the added beds are not enough and they are occupied as soon as they’re available. Hormozgan continues to struggle with the Delta and Medical University official demands help with the shortage of nursing staff.
Raisi’s new staff have already begun their lies about COVID-19 situation in Iran. While Gilan, Tehran, Mashhad, Zanjan, Hormozgan and other provinces have reported shortage of oxygen and other medications in the past few weeks, Gholamhossein Esmaeili, Raisi’s Chief of Staff, claims there is no shortage! Raisi’s nominee for the Ministry of Health, who have signed the letter opposing importation of US and UK made vaccines following Khamenei’s ban, has suddenly become open to the idea of importing vaccines and lockdown procedures. However, Einollahi has not provided any specific details on how he plans to do these to “quickly curtail coronavirus!”
On the other hand, chaotic vaccination with ineffective Sinopharm and COVIran Barekat continues. More than 3,000 have received fake “AstraZeneca” shots in Tehran. Islamic Republic Police announced arrest of a 4-man team who infused the empty vaccine vials with a muscle relaxant and sold them in high prices to desperate Tehran residents. Islamic Republic is responsible for this cruel act as it has provided the groundwork for black markets since day one of the pandemic in Iran.
Meanwhile, COVIran Barekat authorities admit they are behind their promises and have been unable to produce the 50million doses by September 21. Regime officials announced 700,000 more doses of Sinopharm has arrived in Tehran and more are on the way. Zarif’s advisor claimed from August 22, there would be shipments of 5million doses every week! While Health Minister and other officials had claimed PastoCoVac had passed its clinical trial, was approved for “emergency use”, and Director of Pasteur Institute had asserted 120,000 doses had been delivered to the Ministry and public administration will begin by August 3, today, Dr. Karimi from Saveh Medical University said the vaccine is still in its third phase and not ready to be administered!
The current deadly wave in Iran has been attributed to the slow and late vaccination. According to Ministry of Health, total of 20,481,265 doses have been administered since February 9 while only 4,714,701 (5.61% of population) have received both doses.
As seen on the graphs, active and critical cases continue to soar through the roof while Islamic Republic watches.
