President of Mashhad Medical Board explained Delta variant is killing younger COVID-19 patients and admitted the second biggest city in Iran is in a dreadful situation. Dr. Birjandinejad also confessed Iran is at the top of coronavirus cases and deaths from COVID-19 in the world! He added, mass immunization is the only way to control the virus but “we have done very poorly in this regard.” He confirmed IranTrue’s constant daily reminder that ineffective vaccines are being used in Iran. “Unfortunately, our breakthrough rate is far higher than worldwide norm and that means the authorities need to provide better vaccines.” Dr. Birjandinejad emphasized due to the slow vaccination process and vaccines with low efficacy, some groups such as the healthcare staff must receive a booster dose as soon as possible!
Deputy Health Minister Haj Babaei reported the trend in some of the provinces such as Fars, Khorasan Razavi (Mashhad) and Isfahan is still on upward trajectory and hospitals are full. Fars reported 41 daily death toll and a catastrophic situation in the province. East Azerbaijan joins the list of critical provinces with more than 1,000 cases in 1 day. Mazandaran officials keep recording a new high for daily cases and hospitalizations. Full hospitals in Gilan has forced them to erect 3 field hospitals which are being filled too.

Despite all these grim reports, Islamic Republic encouraged people to attend crowded Muharram gatherings in the past 11 days. Health and medical professionals are worried the flood of patients will not stop soon, since none of the COVID-19 restrictions were followed in these gatherings. On the other hand, Khamenei banning the import of western made vaccines in January, and the current massacre in Iran, have infuriated the people. Dr. Zali’s confessions about the “high price” of those vaccines being the reason for not importing them and then “relying too much on empty promises of domestic providers,” have fueled their rage even further. This Iranian who has lost his father, mother and several members of his family have contracted the virus as well, points the arrow at Khamenei and Health Minister, Saeed Namaki: “You banned the import of vaccines. God damns you. My father was tested at the border when he returned to Iran, you said he didn’t have it. But he did, he showed symptoms first, then my mom got it and….Then they found out the test was faulty. I lost my loved ones because of your faulty test and not having the vaccine. The slow and chaotic vaccination continues across Iran with several centers being closed due to Ashura (10th day of Muharram)! Since February 9, total of 21,805,879 shots have been administered and only 5,427,548 (6.46% of Iran population) are fully vaccinated with low efficacy vaccines. The gap keeps getting bigger and as new studies show, the bigger the gap between the 2 doses the lower the immunity! Hossein Shahriari’s confessions in his interview yesterday, trying to downplay the massacre in Iran caused by local vaccine “manufacturers” has caused outrage among Iranians as well. According to Sima Sadat Lari, 555 died of COVID-19 in Iran in the past 24 hours and 28,833 tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Civil Registration Organization’s data indicate more than 200,000 have died of the disease from February 2020 till August 6, 2021. Deputy Health Minister Harirchi has admitted the real numbers “are definitely much higher” than the daily reports. As seen on the graphs, active and critical cases continue to grow by the day.
