Daily COVID-19 death toll in Iran set a new record. According to the official figures of Islamic Republic Ministry of Health, which even Deputy Health Minister had dismissed and said real numbers “are definitely much higher”, 684 died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Civil Registration Organization statistics, however, tell a different story and indicate about 2.5 times more victims of the deadly disease than the official numbers. Even an IRGC-affiliated website admits to the fact that in the past 18 months, more than 245,000 Iranians have died of COVID-19, directly or indirectly, until yesterday, August 21. That translates to about 45,000 deaths in the past 2 weeks, while Ministry of Health has announced a total of 101,354 and 8,726 from August 6 till August 21.
In this video from Karaj, the camerawoman says: “In the 2hours I’ve been standing here, 11 have died. That’s just 1 hospital. Khamenei the executioner, you must answer for every single tear of these people. You are responsible for all this and must be held accountable.”
Official data, however underreported, still shows 1.2% increase in outpatients, 5% in hospitalizations and 12.5% in deaths, in the past week compared to the week before. Head of Iran Medical University in Tehran confessed to the shortage of bed, saying they had to transform CCU to ICU in order to save COVID-19 patients while endangering cardiac ones! Gilan, Ardabil, Kermanshah, East Azerbaijan, Mazandaran,… keep reporting the critical situation in their provinces and how the flood of patients has overwhelmed their hospitals. Khuzestan officials confirmed more than 10,000 went to hospitals on Saturday, August 21, alone! Lorestan reported more than 1,000 hospitalizations due to Delta variant.
Qazvin official reported 1 COVID-19 death every 4-hour in his province. According to Isfahan Medical University, age of the Delta variant victims are mostly below 50. Head of Children’s Hospital in Mashhad, too, announced 2-3 times more children are admitted with COVID-19 in the fifth wave, dominated by Delta, compared to previous waves in Iran.
In the meantime, chaotic vaccination with ineffective vaccines brings out new critiques every day! Today, Dr. Naji, a member of Scientific Committee of National COVID-19 Task Force rebuked the government and regime officials at every level of responding to the crisis. He reiterated all IranTrue.com reports in the past 18 months saying: “We didn’t have any coordination in any level. The Task Force did not use experts’ advice. We knew Delta has come to Iran since April, but did not quarantine the southern provinces and made it spread across the country. We banned importation of reliable vaccines because some people had financial benefits in producing domestic ones.” Dr. Naji described the crisis in Iran, perfectly: “They have taken people’s health as hostage!” He confessed the breakthrough cases in Iran are 70 times other countries and there are several reasons for it. “We missed the golden time to vaccinate people. We should have imported better vaccines! The timing and gap between vaccines are other reasons to lower the efficacy of vaccines.” Not only a proper lockdown was never implemented in the past 18 months, but Islamic Republic has encouraged religious gatherings such as Muharram where no protocol is followed and has used short-term holidays and fines on travelers as a source of income.
Apart from all those facts, the process itself is outrageous. Long disorganized lines across the country which spreads Delta even more. Even though officials keep promising importing Chinese Sinopharm, which has been proven subpar, shortage of vaccine in several provinces has caused the centers to close or use 1 dose for 2! In an attempt to divert all attentions away from Khamenei as the reason behind all the problems in Iran, the President of Drug Importers Union of Iran announced the “new administration has special plans” for vaccines and “if everything goes well” by the end of 2021, about 20,000,000 doses of Pfizer will be imported from Germany. And 30,000,000 Janssen from Belgium through COVAX! It is worth noting, Khamenei banned US and UK made vaccines in January, giving exclusive rights of producing a “domestic vaccine” to Mokhber at the “Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order” which is run under his supervision. In a recent confession by another official, Raisi’s Vice President lied about their ability to mass produce COVIran Barekat!
Ministry of Health claimed 36,419 tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Iran in the past 24 hours. Active and critical cases continue to soar, as seen on the graphs. Sima Sadat Lari also announced administration of 22,548,321 total doses since February 9, while only 5,830,640 (6.94% of population) are fully vaccinated.
