Dr. Kourosh Holakoui-Naeini, epidemiology professor at Tehran University, estimates the real number of COVID-19 cases and deaths are 7 times the official reports! He said, “last September, we had assessed about 350,000 COVID-19 deaths in Iran. They manipulate the data.” He cited Deputy Health Minister Harirchi that had said the fatality is 2.5-3 times the official data and insisted, “I tell you, it’s 7 times more.” Dr. Holakoui also rebuked the government officials for not implementing quarantine and suggested they should be prosecuted! He confirmed IranTrue’s daily reports that Islamic Republic has been doing nothing to stop the virus and Delta variant, “because some people have financial benefits in the pandemic!” He also predicted that if nothing is done, in about 4 months, a more severe and deadlier wave will engulf Iran.
It is worth mentioning, all of these were said in an interview with Javan daily newspaper which is affiliated with IRGC, in line with the campaign to exonerate Khamenei for his role in the ongoing massacre. He banned US and UK made vaccines in January, he ordered the COVID-19 Task Force to allow religious gatherings and he was the one preventing the most recent lockdown! Iranians have been lashing out against him on social media and their videos, prompting the regime to do its best to divert attention from the “Supreme Leader,” even if it means revealing some secrets! It is notable, according to Civil Registration Organization data, more than 245,000 Iranians have died of COVID-19 since it was officially announced in February 2020 until August 21, 2021.
In the meantime, hospitals continue struggling with the flood of patients and provinces report shortage of healthcare staff, beds and oxygen. Isfahan reported more than 3,600 hospitalized COVID-19 patients, and its EMS director confirmed reports of ambulances waiting at the hospitals’ entrances waiting for beds! Kermanshah recorded a new high for the number of hospitalizations, and Ardabil keeps setting new records for daily death toll. Delta variant continues ravaging through Mazandaran, increasing infections and hospitalizations. Saveh authorities are unable to erect field hospitals because “the necessary infrastructure does not exist!”
“Black fungus” which was reported months ago in Iran but brushed off as an unimportant issue, is becoming rampant in Zanjan hospitals and other clinics around the country. The infection happens in people with suppressed immune system, such as COVID-19 patients who are on steroids. At the same time, Zanjan officials announced some cities in the province are deprived of infectious-disease specialist altogether!
In the meantime, chaotic vaccination with ineffective vaccines continues. Many breakthrough cases have been reported which have even been fatal and that is why health experts are insisting on a booster shot to be administered as soon as possible. However, the long lines and closure of many centers in several provinces are signs that there is still shortage of vaccines. It also confirms that “domestic vaccines” were nothing but lies and a source of income for the regime.
According to the Ministry of Health, since February 9, total of 24,474,619 shots have been administered while only 6,900,834 (8.21% of Iran population) have received both doses of ineffective Sinopharm and COVIran Barekat (majority).
The Ministry of Health Spokesperson reported regime’s manipulated data and claimed 665 died of COVID-19 in Iran in the past 24 hours and 39,983 tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The graphs illustrate the five waves Iran has been through so far, more than any other country in the world. Active and critical cases continue to set a new record every day.
