Tasua and Ashura, 9th and 10th day of Muharram, August 29 and 30, are upon us and mourning gatherings are intensified as we get closer to those days. In the meantime, many people, especially Tehran residents, choose to vacation for a few days. This year, Saturday and Sunday are holidays making it a 4-day weekend, a perfect opportunity to travel to Mazandaran, Gilan and Golestan! Despite those provinces being on the list of critical areas, police thought to facilitate the traffic and made it a one way highway, from Tehran to the northern region!
Furthermore, Etemad daily newspaper has published a piece confirming all our previous reports. The article reports about people, heyats (locations and people holding/managing mourning rituals) and mosques who don’t follow the health protocols and there’s nobody to supervise the proceedings. It even includes sightings of serving food at some places, indoor gatherings and no social distancing in many areas, especially south of Tehran! That’s just in one small part of Tehran, one city. If we assume it’s the same across the country, the human catastrophe ahead of Iranians is unimaginable!
Islamic Republic “Supreme Leader,” Ali Khamenei, held his first private mourning ceremony where he’s sittings at least 600ft away from the orator, the only other person visible in the huge indoor space. This is the same person who had said coronavirus was the work of foreign intelligence with the help of jinns, it’s nothing to be worried about and praying will help. In recent weeks, he has emphasized on holding “big mourning ceremonies for “Imam Hossein””! He hasn’t been seen in public since early days of the outbreak and has completely isolated himself, afraid of contacting the virus! But it’s OK for people to participate in gatherings so he can show the world, Islamic Republic is still there!
On the other hand, Sima Sadat Lari, Ministry of Health Spokesperson, announced 2,243 new confirmed cases and 119 deaths in the past 24 hours. 28 of 31 provinces, more than 93% of Iran population, remain in critical status and Islamic Republic officials have nothing to say but keep repeating “follow protocols”. Today, the President of the ruling mullahs went back to his roots and started orating for Hossein, making cabinet members shed pretend or crocodile tears! How about reimposing some restrictions, especially traveling between provinces to save some lives instead of these shows?!
Graphs clearly show the unstoppable COVID-19 in Iran for 191 days, even though they’re based on the extremely unreliable and falsified data provided by the Ministry of Health. Active cases keep soaring while the regime is busy with its ideological propaganda and sacrificing people to hold its grip on power for a few more days! While Harirchi, Deputy Health Minister, briefly described a number without calling it Basic Reproduction Rate (R0), and said it was 0.93 in Iran, based on our calculations that number is 1.44 which is another confirmation on how the crisis is out of control. It’s worth noting, he mentioned this data a day after we criticized the officials for ignoring R0! If it really was under 1, we wouldn’t have had 28 of 31 provinces in critical condition.
