Delta continues to its rampage across Iran. Even though the country just passed its deadliest week on record, and more than 12,000 died of COVID-19, Khamenei’s representative in Army praises the “Supreme Leader” for his decision on not purchasing US and UK made vaccines. Mohammadhasani emphasized that “it is obvious now” that Khamenei’s decision was “the best decision!” Despite regime’s attempts and propaganda campaigns to exonerate the “Supreme Leader,” Iranians continue to curse at Khamenei as the main culprit in the ongoing massacre in Iran.
Islamic Republic officials, including former Health Minister and current Vice President, have given false hopes to the people about “homegrown vaccines!” While they had promised more than 25 million doses of COVIran Barekat and millions of PastoCoVac will be available by August 22, “Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order” PR Office Director claimed only “about 8m doses of COVIran Barekat” have been manufactured and about half of that have been delivered to the Ministry of Health for use!
While locals report of shortage of vaccines and vaccination centers across the country are closing down left and right, Islamic Republic Ministry of Health claims record-breaking number of daily administration, which can only casts shadow of doubt on the vaccination numbers provided by the regime, just like the other figures. According to health experts and Civil Registration Organization data, Ministry of Health is off by 2.5 to 7 times COVID-19 numbers.
The Ministry of Health claimed total of 26,941,260 shots administered since February 9 while only 8,389,296 (9.98% of Iran population) have received both doses of ineffective vaccines. The ineffective Sinopharm continues being imported while many breakthrough cases and fatalities have been reported in Iran. AstraZeneca remains scarce and many provinces are awaiting guidelines for how to proceed for the second doses!
On the other hand, when Delta has not reached its peak in most provinces, Lambda has become a major concern. Hospitals are filled with patients and many cannot admit any new patient. Local officials have turned mosques and corridors to hospotal rooms!
Lorestan needs “fast erecting field hospitals” to attend to the flood of COVID-19 patients. Isfahan reports 50 deaths in the past 24 hours and more than 3,500 hospitalized patients. Hormozgan Governor warns about the sixth wave of coronavirus in the province if compliance with protocols does not improve. 16 died in Qazvin since yesterday and infections keep rising. Ardabil reports worsening condition in its hospitals. Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari struggles with the breakout and Gilan has more than 1,600 hospitalizations. Head of Power Company in Gilan warns if vaccination of his employees is not done soon, shortage of staff will cause problems in providing electricity and service to the province!
Ministry of Health Spokesperson claimed 33,780 tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours in Iran while 669 died of COVID-19. Graphs vividly illustrate the record-breaking Delta’s rampage across the country, even though the numbers are highly underreported.
