2,634 new cases 174 deaths due to COVID-19 were confirmed by Ministry of Health Spokesperson. As expected, Islamic Republic is doing its best to do everything possible to bring people out of their homes to have “crowded mourning ceremonies” in Moharram, even if it means to manipulate the stats more than before, if it’s even possible! Despite what’s said on national TV by propaganda mouthpieces, hospitals across the country report full capacity and shortage of healthcare staff and exhausted hospital resources at all levels, with increasing number of critical patients. The same 26 provinces are still in critical condition, more than 92% of Iran’s population!
Head of Islamic Propaganda Organization said the “mourning or health” rhetoric is advertised by “our enemies” and they’re the ones who would benefit the most but “we’ll hold mourning ceremonies as big as always if not bigger.” 2-3 weeks after those Moharram gatherings would be the start of flu season and the healthcare system doesn’t have the capacity at any level to handle the flood of patients, possibly with concurrent flu and COVID-19! However, Deputy Health Minister in Treatment Affairs claim they would be adding 13,000 hospital beds by March 2021 (end of Persian calendar), 50% of which would be in use by the “next few months”! No specific time-frame for the 50% means nothing will be delivered in time and people would be staying on the streets, just like they already have. Haj Babaei also promised 20-30% of beds at all times would be designated for COVID-19 patients.
While Dr Zali, head of Tehran’s Corona Combating Committee, emphasizes on using masks and is happy about more cooperation by Tehranis, head of Islamic Consultative Assembly’s Health Commission said about 50% of the population can’t afford to use masks! IRGC hoarding masks and other medical supplies or sending them to Lebanon, Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria instead of distributing them among Iranians has caused many to contract the virus or die from it! While the majority of Iranians can’t afford to have 3 meals a day or don’t have healthy water to drink, Islamic Republic FM Spokesman announced more help packages are to be sent to Lebanon including food, medicine, medical supplies, healthcare staff and “infrastructure” aid.
