Islamic Republic keeps its propaganda ruse claiming the number of cases and deaths have decreased compared to few weeks ago and it all shows they can hold Moharram mourning ceremonies without a hitch and with full people’s cooperation. Sima Sadat Lari announced 2,450 new COVID-19 cases and 156 deaths in the past 24 hours. At the first look, and that’s what regime has been counting on, it seems like the numbers are decreasing. However, when the weekly “positivity rate” is calculated, it becomes obvious, not only there hasn’t been any significant change in any direction, but in fact it has slightly increased. The positivity rate (number of positive cases divided by number of tests) from July 23 to July 30 was 9.88% while it’s been 10.22% between July 31 and August 7!
Another proof is the number of alarming reports from all over the country, warning of full hospitals, shortage of medical staff and supplies. ICU beds are all occupied as well but Ministry of Health has to present the numbers in a way that Moharram could go on like previous years, it’s regime’s business month! Head of Islamic Propaganda Organization refers to Khamenei’s last speech and said, “Enemies have never had a better time to hurt mourning ceremonies for Imam Hossein. It’s obvious our leader’s problem is with the US, and Moharram is the best time to distinctly show them.” Whatever that means!
Sadat Lari mentioned the same 26 provinces in red and alarming status as previous days. She also mentioned people’s cooperation has increased in using masks and therefore, hopefully “we’ll see less numbers in the next few days.” She also asked people not to travel unnecessarily, however, as every weekend, people from Tehran and Alborz provinces would go north for a better weather and using beaches, causing the virus to be spread more and faster, with the help of Police and government! Instead of imposing travel restrictions between provinces, they would make the roads one way to ease traffic for more people!
In the meantime, for the first time in the country during pandemic, 2 people have been sentenced to 6-month suspended imprisonment for holding a wedding party in Namin, Ardebil. The officials warn people the situation is red in the province and they need to refrain from any gatherings or face consequences! If Islamic Republic has managed the pandemic properly from day one, people wouldn’t be going to jail for the happiest day of their lives! Furthermore, officials from Khalkhal Medical College warned about the sharp uptrend in the county, asking people to follow health protocols. Another sign that the crisis is far from being “under control” or it’s heading towards “getting better.”
Basic Reproduction Rate (R0) and graphs, even though based on engineered and fake number of Ministry of Health, and local reports all indicate quite the opposite of what the theocratic regime officials announce every day!
