While the world is moving towards 3-dose vaccination with mRNA vaccines to control the Omicron and new waves of COVID-19, Islamic Republic officials are proud of themselves for vaccinating less than 60% of Iran population with 2 doses of the ineffective and unsafe Sinopharm! Khamenei banned US and UK made vaccines, promoting his own foundation’s “domestic” COVIran Barekat, which failed miserably and cost thousands of Iranians their lives. After the utter failure, Sinopharm was poured into the vaccination centers and even though it was unapproved for 12-17 year-old students, they were administered with 1 or 2 doses.
Despite the low vaccination among students and educators, the regime insisted on reopening schools. However, cases of COVID-19 among students and educators started to rise. Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari announced 603 students, 186 educators and 7 janitors tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the past month, since schools resumed their mandated in-person classes, against the health experts’ recommendations.
According to official data, since February 9, only 3,307,997 (3.93% of Iran population) have received 3 doses of these vaccines. At the same time, 49,989,114 (59.51% of population) are administered 2 shots. Dr. Alavi of Ahvaz Medical University emphasized that 1 or even 2 doses of vaccines used in Iran will not be enough against Omicron! Additionally, the long delay between doses may make the whole immunization futile. Air pollution has become another burden on the healthcare system and COVID-19 patients, increasing the risk of death. None of these grim situations and warnings has been able to stop the regime from being delusional about “controlling COVID-19!”
The Ministry of Health Spokesperson claimed 52 have died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours and 2,651 tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Professor of Epidemiology at Tehran University believes these numbers must be multiplied by 7 and Civil Registration Organization data show more than 313,000 have died of the disease since February 2020. Graphs illustrate the ongoing crisis in Iran and forming of the new wave.
