After days of sharp declines in the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in Iran, Ministry of Health undercounted data show an increase in the past 24 hours. According to Sima Sadat Lari, 6,108 tested positive for coronavirus while 132 died of the disease. The provincial officials and health experts keep warning about a resurgence of cases and deaths in the coming weeks with the lax restrictions!
COVID-19 vaccine in Iran has been a huge chaos for a few weeks, but in a big charade, “Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order” (Setad), responsible for “developing the domestic vaccine,” launched its first phase of human trials! Setad, which have many subsidiaries including Barekat Inc, is one of the many state-owned foundations under direct supervision of Khamenei!
As expected, all officials have started bragging about it, however, it wasn’t received well by social media users! The majority believed the vaccine is not made in Iran but it’s a Russian or Chinese one being rebranded, which are questionable on their own merit! And many commented they don’t trust the government to create anything effective. It’s worth noting, pharmacists and many officials have refuted the capability of producing vaccine even exist in Iran!
In the meantime, an FDA official said another vaccine would start its human trial too, just waiting for ethics committee to approve its codes! On the other hand, he said there’s no need for any approval from international bodies.
While most countries are reporting cases about the new variant of coronavirus found in the UK, the Islamic Republic officials keep denying its existence the country, Even though Iran borders have never been completely closed to travelers. UAE, Pakistan, Jordan, US, Switzerland, Canada, South Korea, Australia,…. have all reported the UK version of coronavirus. Islamic Republic denies the truth as usual and they had when the epidemic began in February 2020!
Testing remains in the same range. Basic Reproduction Rate (R0) and graphs remain the best indicators in more than 10 months of ongoing crisis in Iran, even though those are based on the fake and engineered data provided by Ministry of Health.
