Mohsen Hashemi, chairman of Tehran City Council, said, there were about 100 COVID-19 deaths in the past 24hrs in the city of Tehran alone. Dr Zali, head of Tehran Corona Combating Committee, reported 500 admissions due to coronavirus infections since yesterday in Tehran alone, of which 135 were admitted to ICUs! They both said the situation in Tehran is fragile and “we could have a resurgence” with premature reopenings. Zali called the situation in Tehran “worrisome.” Hashemi said the traffic in the capital has already increased which would ruin all effects of the “2-week lockdown.” He used the March-April premature reopenings as an example to portray the upcoming wave!
In the meantime, Sima Sadat Lari reported 321 deaths in the entire country! She also announced 12,151 new cases of coronavirus in Iran since yesterday who have tested positive! The Ministry of Health Spokesperson said there are 64 “red” counties, 278 “orange” and 106 “yellow.” With more than 31% of total deaths in the capital, Tehran is categorized as “orange,” allowing relaxation of many more businesses and increased use of public transportation system. Islamic Republic and its President, Rouhani, seems to be prioritizing economy over people’s health and lives. Rouhani had already warned that long-term closures could spark an uprising like or even worse than November 2019. Protecting the regime from collapse, is the main objective of all officials.
Saeed Namaki, Islamic Republic Health Minister, claims even with the swamp of sanctions, the regime has swum very well and controlled the novel coronavirus very well! He believes, regime’s actions have shocked the observers and none of their predictions about the devastating number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in Iran has turned out to be true! He even went back to his original sport metaphor and called the “Corona Match” 5-1 for Islamic Republic against USA. He’s right. Islamic Republic hid and lied about the coronavirus crisis since day one. Data engineering and manipulations have been the highlight of their “COVID-19 management.”
Basic Reproduction Rate (R0) and graphs continue to be the best indicators of the ongoing human catastrophe in Iran. For the first time in weeks, active cases increased couple of hundreds instead of thousands. Recoveries have increased and critical cases decreased. Testing remains in the same range. The promise of 100,000 tests a day seems to be unreachable when the officials prevent hospitals and laboratories to use “rapid tests” to diagnose coronavirus infections. Raisi, National Task Force Spokesman, believes the 3rd wave of COVID-19 has entered its downward trend, calling on people to continue following protocols.
