Hassan Rouhani says “as soon as coronavirus vaccine enters the country, vaccination of target groups will be started.” He didn’t mention the “target groups” but said there has been a chart prepared for them. He added, “we must do everything we can to prevent the fourth wave of COVID-19 in the country. Implementation of protocols must be observed more intensely and all responsible must take it seriously not to allow gatherings.” Meanwhile, the Islamic Republic regime has organized crowded religious gatherings, Friday Prayers, and funerals across the country.
Deputy Chief for the Implementation of a Comprehensive Scientific Plan announced 42.3million doses of coronavirus vaccine will be imported, 16.8million doses from COVAX and 25.5million from “other companies” which are not based on Pfizer mRNA technology. He didn’t offer any details about the companies or countries or time-frame of any of these purchases. However, he did mention 25million doses of homegrown COVIran Barekat will be produced by May-June 2021.
Kabganian claimed, 9 Iranian companies are working on producing 6 types of vaccines based on 4 technologies: “mRNA, recombinant protein, inactivated virus and viral vector.” He mentioned the vaccine collaborated with Cuba is based on recombinant protein technology. mRNA based vaccine is the technique which Khamenei banned, expressing concern that it is not effective and could kill more Iranians!
On the other hand, Mohammad Mokhber, head of “Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order”, parent company of COVIran Barekat announced in the next month, “we will reach 2million doses of vaccine production in month. In the next 3 months, this amount will be increased to 12-14million doses in a month.” It’s worth noting, the first phase of clinical trial for this vaccine has not finished yet, but apparently, it’s already being mass produced.
Sima Sadat Lari announced 87 COVID-19 deaths while 5,917 have tested positive in the past 24 hours in Iran. Even based on the manipulated data provided by the Ministry of Health Spokesperson, the numbers show a slight rise from yesterday. 10 counties in Mazandaran, N Iran, remain red while other provinces including Fars ask their hospitals to be ready for the next peak!
Basic Reproduction Rate (R0) and graphs continue to be the best indicators of waves in Iran in the past 337 days. Islamic Republic has been making the wrong decisions at every turn, exacerbating the situation and waiting for a miracle!
