It’s another Friday, another weekend in Iran, and as it’s been the case, another grim report from the coronavirus crisis in Iran. Sima Sadat Lari, the Ministry of Health Spokesperson, announced 2,262 new cases and 142 deaths in the past 24 hours have been confirmed. That means 1,341 Iranians have died of COVID-19 from last Friday, July 3 till today, an average of 167.6 per day! This is just based on highly discounted and fake numbers provided by a regime known to cover up its incompetent, despicable and corrupt actions! She also named Khuzestan, Bushehr, Hormozgan, Kermanshah, Kurdistan, Ilam, Khorasan Razavi, East & West Azerbaijan as “red” and Tehran, Isfahan, Mazandaran, Golestan, Alborz, Kerman, Yazd, Hamedan, Ardebil and Sistan-Baluchestan in “alarming” status. That list includes all big cities with most population in the country!
East Azerbaijan head of medical university reports 500 positive cases and 180 admissions every day in province’s hospitals! The situation is the same in West Azerbaijan. Khuzestan has been in critical situation for weeks now and the situation is not getting any better. Bushehr and Hormozgan are on the same boat. Hospitals across the country, especially in “red” provinces are exhausted of all resources including healthcare staff! Nurses are burned out from working multiple shifts for more than 140 days, and many of their colleagues either contracted the disease and suffered greatly or have sacrificed their lives for their patients.
According to the Ministry of Health and National Task Force, a city/county is designated as “red” if on average, there are 3 patients per day per 100,000 population in the past 2 weeks, less than 3 with the same criteria is considered “white” and anything in between, it would be “yellow.” Therefore, the “alarming” category is the same as “yellow”. Tehran, as the capital of Iran, biggest city with the most population and many hospitals, have announced hospitals at full capacity, and we reported and shared photos of patients in parking garage of Masih Daneshvari receiving oxygen! How is it that Tehran is considered “alarming” still?! Ardebil has announced an average of 70 patients in a day since 2 weeks ago. Kerman reported “alarming and sharp” incline in cases and deaths since more than 2 weeks ago. Golestan has closed its businesses, banks, and Friday Prayers were not held in the province. Sistan-Baluchestan health officials have said the hospitals don’t have any more beds available. This list goes and on but Islamic Republic likes to confused the people it seems!
On the other hand, President of Islamic Republic, Hassan Rouhani, is “hopeful” and “happy” about the progress seen on the report from his Health Minister, Saeed Namaki, because some cities have been degraded to “yellow” from “red” or from “yellow” to “white”. He also reiterated that without people’s cooperation defeating coronavirus is impossible, and this “progress” is owed to their cooperation. While that’s true, the root of the problem is Islamic Republic regime officials and their consecutive irreversible mistakes during this pandemic, or in the past 41 years for that matter. 144 days have passed and people are still dying, and there’s nothing stopping the virus.
Basic Reproduction Rate (R0), growth factors above 1 and other graphs all point toward a continuous uninterrupted crisis, despite what Rouhani and other officials claim and brag about all the time! Miraculously, many people are recovering, active cases are decreasing sharply, but hospitals still can’t admit new patients.
