Delta (Indian) variant has made all hospitals in Sistan-Baluchestan, Kerman, Hormozgan and Tehran full of COVID-19 patients, forcing them to discharge patients prematurely or erect field hospitals. A lung specialist warned that Delta is turning to Delta Plus variant in some patients while Islamic Republic Ministry of Health refuses to provide any details on specific variants spreading throughout Iran. Shortage of oxygen generators and healthcare staff in southern provinces deteriorate the crisis. At the same time, Zahedan and Tehran have extremely hazardous air pollution.
Fars has more than 2,000 hospitalized and Kohgiloyeh-Boyerahmad officials warn that cases are up by 100% from weeks before and everybody must be ready. The Governor said “Delta is overwhelming.” Head of Semnan Medical University expects all counties in the province to turn “red” soon, when cases and hospitalizations are on the rise exponentially.
However, none of these grim reports would stop Islamic Republic and its Islamic Propaganda Organization to stop holding crowded gatherings during Muharram in August. According to the deputy head of the organization, all gatherings will carry on and “we won’t allow any of them to be closed (due to COVID-19).” Last year, a new breakout began in Iran.
Meanwhile, despite Health Minister’s expectation that “in 2 days 400-500,000 would be vaccinated in a day,” daily vaccination rate has plummeted, and once again, Saeed Namaki’s empty promises show their true nature, propaganda rhetoric! Ministry of Health announced total of 7,727,534 shots have been administered in Iran since February 9, while only 2,219,693 (2.64% of population) are fully vaccinated. Islamic Republic began its vaccination process behind all regional rivals and have continued it at the lowest level possible. It was on hold for weeks due to shortage of vaccine and false claims about the “homegrown” vaccines.
On the other hand, Red Crescent Spokesman announced 1,142,800 doses arrived in Tehran today. However, Qosian stopped short of mentioning the origin country. If past is any indication, the vaccines are Sinopharm from China with little efficacy on the original strain let alone the Delta or Delta Plus.
According to the state-sponsored pollster, ISPA, more than 61% of Iranians are extremely dissatisfied with the Islamic Republic approach towards vaccination, while more than 26% believe their turn would never arrives! National COVID-19 Task Force Spokesman claims there will be no shortage of vaccine for people above 60 years of age, and continued “1.2million doses of COVIran Barekat will be delivered to the Ministry every week from July 23.” He did not mention anything about the majority of Iranians under 60.
Ministry of Health Spokesperson claimed 201 died of COVID-19 in Iran in the past 24 hours and 23,655 tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Iran Medical Board believes these numbers are at least 1/3 of the reality on the ground. As seen on the graphs, active and critical cases continue to rise, daily PCR tests declined while positivity rate broke records and reached 32.10%.
