While most Iranians are online engaged in #اعدام_نکنید campaign, Sima Sadat Lari announced the same 25 provinces as yesterday at red or alarming status. She also said 2,388 new cases and 199 deaths have been confirmed in the past 24 hours. The number of deaths increases every day and hospitals across the country have reported shortage of beds, especially at ICU wards and exhaustion of their resources including healthcare staff. The Ministry of Health Spokesman also mentioned 140 healthcare workers have lost their lives to COVID-19 while 5,000 have been infected by the novel coronavirus. According to Dr.Zafarghandi, head of Iran Medical Council, 20% of them nurses, 19% other hospital staff and the rest were physicians who sacrificed their lives to treat their patients.
Dr Zafarghandi also said he’s sent several letters to the President asking for authorizing the local officials to decide about everything COVID-19 related but it has been denied so far. He said he sent another letter recently asking for the same relaxation in rules in addition to allowing government employees to work from home to reduce traffic and crowd in the cities. He warned that “herd immunity” is not effective in containing the novel coronavirus and the country’s approach must be changed. That implies that Islamic Republic regime has been intentionally sacrificing people to reach immunity despite experts’ warnings. Zafarghandi emphasized according to WHO, evidently there is no long-term immunity created in the body against the virus. Head of Iran Medical Council also said Remdesivir has shown promising results in treating COVID-19 patients but it hasn’t been added to treatment protocols in Iran yet.
Fars officials, just like many other provinces, report a sharp surge in their cases and deaths but not allowed to share specific data with media. Another proof that Ministry’s daily numbers are fake, manipulated and heavily controlled by intelligence services, as we have reported before many times.
In the meantime, and despite officials’ admission that traveling is a major factor in spreading the virus from critical regions to less infected areas, Rouhani insisted health protocols of the National Task Force are the only way to go and there is no other way. He said, “Our experience in dealing with coronavirus in the two periods show this is the right way to do it. People must follow the rules if they want to defeat the virus.” Rouhani has been a firm believer in that there’s only been 1 wave/peak in the country, but by saying this has implicitly confirmed this is a resurgence of the virus.
