Tehran, Sistan-Baluchestan, Kerman, Hormozgan and Alborz are in dire situation due to Delta (Indian) variant but Islamic Republic officials are content with issuing “warnings” and asking people to close down their only livelihood means while there is no support system for them. Tehran City Council Chairman reported more than 100 COVID-19 deaths in the capital alone. Hospitalizations broke the 17-month record. Tehran Governor announced 7,400 patients in Tehran hospitals, indicating all beds are occupied. Bandpey, more than 10 days after the capital was upgraded to “red”, emphasized on COVID-19 restrictions to be implemented!
Tehran, Hormozgan, and South Khorasan have erected field hospitals. Fars stats show 361 hospitalizations in one day and accelerated pace of coronavirus across the country. Head of Shiraz Medical University also reported the age of COVID-19 deaths and admissions has decreased significantly and more youth are involved. Mashhad, the second biggest city in the country, has admitted about 250 patients on a daily basis! Markazi officials sounded the alarm about the spike in cases and deaths. Mazandaran is on the same boat. National Task Force Spokesman confirmed all these reports by saying none of Iran provinces has reached the peak of the fifth wave yet, and the uptick in cases and hospitalizations will continue. 16 provinces are currently being ravaged by the Delta variant. Ministry of Health Spokesperson announced 18.5% rise in COVID-19 deaths and 35% in hospitalizations during the past week compared to the week before.
Despite all these warnings and Islamic Republic officials pretending to enforce restrictions, Islamic Propaganda Organization insists on holding crowded Muharram gatherings beginning in 2 weeks. Last year, these gatherings led to a new breakout. Also Eid al-Ahda ceremonies are held across the country on July 21. The Interior Minister announced he has suggested for 3 additional days added to the long weekend to control the spread of virus, while huge score of people are anticipated to go on trips during the holidays!
In the meantime, Islamic Republic continues to use the novel coronavirus as a weapon against political prisoners in male or female prisons. In a new report, a political prisoner from female ward of Evin prison in Tehran, stated many COVID-19 positive prisoners are put in a small cell together and only given an IV if they are in critical condition, then left alone. Previously, other reports have been released about the horrifying situation in the theocratic regime’s prisons.
The vaccination process remains chaotic and slow, even though the daily administration broke the record. Chairman of Tehran Corona Combating Committee announced only 480,000 being fully vaccinated out of 14,800,000 residents of the Tehran province, since the beginning of vaccination in Iran. Dr. Zali warns the regime officials to put importing vaccines as their top priority amid steep rise in cases, hospitalizations and deaths. It is notable, Khamenei has banned importing of US and UK made vaccines.
According to the Ministry of Health, in the past 24 hours, 304,664 shots were administered. The data show, since February 9, total of 8,448,070 doses are administered and only 2,268,826 (2.70% of Iran population) are fully vaccinated.
The Spokesperson for the Ministry claimed 195 died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours in Iran and 22,184 tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The daily reported data are criticized since day one, even Iran Medical Board estimates the real numbers are at least 3 times higher. As seen on the graphs, active and critical cases continue to soar.
