219 more lives were lost in the past 24 hours to COVID-19 and Islamic Republic’s inaction. The regime has no plan to battle a virus that has killed 1,642 Iranians since last Wednesday, July 15, an average of 205.25 a day! That number was reached in 32 days in the beginning of the outbreak in the country, an average of 52.65 a day! In simple terms, the crisis hasn’t gotten better after more than 5 months but Islamic Republic mishandling of the situation at every turn has made it almost 5 times worse. Mind you that’s based on the official, highly suspicious and manipulated data provided by the same officials who lied about the virus and their achievements in controlling it every single day.
Sima Sadat Lari also announced 2,586 new cases since yesterday, and mentioned the same provinces in alarming and red status as yesterday. Qom is reaching to their so-called “alarming” level, with 50% of its performed tests turning positive! And Ardebil should be “upgraded” to red, since according to its Medical University, almost all hospitals are at full capacity and is asking for 2 weeks lockdown of the “red” zones in the province!
While Isfahan is still on “alarming” list, and reports about shortage of hospital beds and medical supplies are abundant from all four corners of the land, the head of Isfahan Medical University in a leaked video from his meeting at Khorshid Hospital says, “It’s not about choice anymore. Yesterday, we had to act like Spain. We admitted the 50-year-old at ICU while left the 70-year-old to die.”
But still, on national TV, Ministry officials broadcast “hopeful” messages such as decrease in cases and admissions, as if people could forget what they had announced yesterday! Not only there is no significant decrease in cases compared to the day before (2,625) but in Tehran, the capital and hub of everything, 767 people were admitted in hospitals. According to Dr Zali, head of Tehran Corona Combating Committee, 9.3% of people who went to hospitals with COVID-19 symptoms, required admission. This rate was 5.5% last month. He also emphasized that the people coming to hospitals or admitted, are in worse clinical situation compared to the patients 2 weeks ago!
Another official from Tehran Committee said the idea of “herd immunity” for the novel coronavirus is absurd! He said if what WHO says comes true, there would be 60-70,000 deaths in Iran. According to him if the situation continues like this, there would be a human catastrophe in Iran, and asked for a plan to decrease the “mortality rate”. That could probably lead to some more manipulations in stats and bringing the stats down forcefully! However, there isn’t a family in Iran who doesn’t know somebody whom died of COVID-19.
We reported about sending 1 ton of medical supplies to Iraq while Zarif was there but, Islamic Republic’s generosity doesn’t end there. They sent 1,000 filtered masks, 20,000 layered masks, 400 sets of protective gear for healthcare workers and 1,200 disinfectants to Herat, Afghanistan! That is when thousands of Iranian healthcare staff have contracted the disease and more than 140 have died of COVID-19 due to shortage of this very same supplies!
Basic Reproduction Rate (R0) increases once more and graphs remain the best indicator in how disastrous the situation is in Iran. The only point of pride in Islamic Republic’s stats is also vanishing by increasing “death rate” to 5.7%! And the number of tests per capita has decreased, according to worldwide stats. All of this while Islamic Republic waits for a country to produce a vaccine for COVID-19 and hand it over to them for free to save Iranians, otherwise, it doesn’t look like there is any plan to stop the virus, other than blaming people.
