Mazandaran is experiencing the overwhelming wave of Delta variant in its hospitals with no empty beds left! The officials believe the 6-day lockdown of Tehran and Karaj worsened the situation because COVID-19 restrictions, like always, were not implemented and traveling to northern provinces has overloaded their hospitals, making it impossible to handle! Fars‘ daily death toll remains in the 2-digits and hospitalizations continue to rise filling hospitals and field clinics. Ardabil is on the same boat. Mashhad, the second biggest city in Iran, canceled all elective surgeries and admissions, allocating all hospital beds in the Khorasan Razavi province to COVID-19 patients!
Officials in Gilan, one of the northern provinces also blame the government for increasing number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in the province, while warning about the Lambda variant which was first identified in August 2020 in Peru, and according to WHO is a “variant of interest”, one level lower than “concern”. Dr. Dehnadi-Moghaddam from Rasht Medical University said “we’re recently faced with the lambda strain which evades the immune system, is more transmissible and virulent!” He hinted at a mixture of the 2 variants circulating in the country which would only overload the already collapsing healthcare system.
Ali Khamenei claimed to have received the second dose of COVIran Barekat, a “Sinopharm-like homegrown vaccine“, developed by a company under his own direct control rebranding the Chinese ineffective vaccine. COVIran Barekat has not even published a single one of its results and its third phase of clinical trial is not finished! According to a new study, 50% of people 80+ and 25% of 60+ do not produce any antibody against the novel coronavirus after being fully vaccinated with Sinopharm! The majority of 60+ age group which are being vaccinated in Iran, are receiving the Chinese Sinopharm. Islamic Republic officials have proudly announced COVIran Barekat to be like Sinopharm, evidence indicate it is a rebranding of the Chinese vaccine! On the other hand, they continue importing the vaccine while Khamenei has banned UK and US made shots.
Ministry of Health announced total of 9,800,486 shots have been administered in Iran since February 9 and only 2,353,976 (2.80% of population) are fully vaccinated with ineffective vaccines for Delta variant.
The Spokesperson also claimed 210 died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours in Iran and 21,814 tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The manipulated data of Islamic Republic have been criticized since day one and Iran Medical Board believes they are at least 1/3 of the real numbers. As seen on the graphs, critical and active cases continue to soar as the daily PCR testing declines.
