Delta variant keeps expanding its webs over Iran while Islamic Republic officials are sitting on their hands waiting for the virus to run its course, no matter how many Iranians lose their lives to COVID-19! They are waiting for the time to pass and maybe a miracle happens! That is the gist of Iran medical professionals about the devastating situation in hospitals across the country and inaction of the regime to control the disease.
Head of Khomeini hospital in Tehran says the situation is horrifying and healthcare workers are under unimaginable pressure. Dr. Sadeghniat admitted there have been shortages of beds and medicine for the past 2 weeks with no resolution yet! Dr. Sedaghat, head of ICU at a hospital in Mashhad, expressed his disappointment that “nobody does anything to control the spread of the virus.” He said healthcare staff are losing hope and motivation, “this is the fifth wave in our country!” He also warned about the younger patients dying during this wave compared to previous ones.
In an eye opening video circulating on social media, a physician in Iran shows the devastating situation in hospitals, with no vacant bed, no social distancing in the hospital, no oxygen or medicine,… He says, “I don’t care if I lose my job because of this video, but you see this is our situation! Nothing could be found.”
Mashhad City Council in a statement asked Iranians not to travel there because it is “experiencing its most dreadful COVID-19 days!” Mashhad Medical Council issued a statement naming their problems, the first one being shortage of bed, medicine and other necessary equipment. “Healthcare staff’s situation is inexplicable,” the statement reads. They rebuked the government for not implementing the most basic COVID-19 restrictions, including closing down high risk businesses like wedding venues, gyms and swimming pools! The organization announced the “catastrophe is happening!” Hormozgan broke its daily death record since the epidemic began in Iran in February 2020 with 20 COVID-19 deaths. In Gilan, hospitals are full and critical patients are waiting for an ICU bed, according to medical university official.
In the meantime, Islamic Republic officials continue bragging about importing vaccines from China and Russia, the ineffective vaccines against Delta, let alone it is too late for any vaccination since the wild strain has already infested the entire country. It is worth noting, Khamenei banned US and UK made vaccines in January! Since February 9, total of 12,018,648 shots have been administered and only 2,652,358 (3.15% of Iran population) are fully vaccinated!
Ministry of Health Spokesperson claimed 270 died of COVID-19 in Iran in the past 24 hours and 24,715 tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Iran Medical Board estimates these numbers are at least 1/3 of the real figures. As seen on the graphs, active and critical cases continue to soar while less daily PCR tests are performed every day!
