Delta variant continues to ravage the country. Hospitals across Iran are filled with COVID-19 patients, some have to lay down outside the hospitals with no treatment. Oxygen and medication shortage is prevalent, medical professionals demand the regime officials to lock down big cities and implement proper restrictions but Islamic Republic rather let the coronavirus runs its course. Tehran, the capital, and Mashhad, the second biggest city in the country, have devastating situations. Hormozgan keeps breaking its records. Fars has the same fate. Kermanshah is near the peak of the fifth wave. Mazandaran is no exception.
Mashhad Medical University warned if nothing is done, “in next few days, hospitals will be gridlocked!” Another Mashhad official asks COVID-19 patients not to go to hospitals, because “it will be challenging to serve them!” Khorasan Razavi Governor asks permission from National COVID-19 Task Force to implement “state of emergency” protocols, but it hasn’t been approved yet.
Islamic Republic officials continue “advising” people to comply with protocols with all businesses open. Religious gatherings are held and apparently, nothing can stop the Islamic Propaganda Organization from holding crowded Muharram gatherings. After more than 17 months and 5 deadly waves, the theocratic regime has only lied, hid the truth and Khamenei banned reliable US and UK vaccines to be imported, leading to the current horrifying circumstances in Iran. People do not trust the regime, no matter the message or cost. It is obvious in their daily nationwide protests.
Healthcare workers are under huge pressure. A nurse describes the scenes she’s seen worse than horror movies. Another one dies of heart attack due to overworking. Another one screams at the officials for shortages, and the list goes on.
In the meantime, chaotic vaccination with ineffective vaccines continues. Islamic Republic trumpets importing 1.9million doses of vaccine from Japan, but fails to mention those are the AstraZeneca which Japan refused to use on its population due to its risks. This is a vaccination center in Qazvin, where people have to wait for hours in the crowded indoor space.
According to the Ministry of Health, since February 9, total of 12,239,837 shots have been administered and only 2,687,311 (3.19% of Iran population) are fully vaccinated. The daily administration of vaccines has almost halved in the past 2 days.
Ministry of Health Spokesperson also claimed 286 died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours in Iran and 19,846 tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Iran Medical Board estimates the real numbers are at least 3 times higher than the daily reports. The graphs illustrate the soar of active and critical cases while daily PCR testing continues to decline.
