A sharp increase in coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours in Iran, even according to the underreported and manipulated data of Islamic Republic Ministry of Health, has sounded the alarm across the country. Sima Sadat Lari claimed 23,391 tested positive for the novel coronavirus and 136 died of COVID-19. The daily PCR tests continue to decline while positivity rate reached a new high of 29.93%. Islamic Republic officials’ inaction and mismanagement in the past 17 months, have caused Iran to go through four devastating waves and experience a deadly fifth. They ignored all the signs and warnings of Sistan-Baluchestan officials, hid the truth, did not ban travel between provinces and now the wild Delta (Indian) variant has reached the rest of the country.
As Sistan-Baluchestan is going through its fifth week of a humanitarian catastrophe, the regime officials sent the unproven “COVIran Barekat vaccines” to the province, as if that would help with the instant problems such as shortage of water, widespread blackouts, lack of clinics and hospitals, shortage of healthcare staff and extreme poverty of the people who cannot even afford a mask! That level of infections has reached Kerman, South Khorasan, Mazandaran, Tehran, Alborz, Hormozgan and Bushehr while they struggle with all the same problems.
Ardabil reported confirmed Delta cases and Mashhad recorded 50% increase in outpatient cases compared to 2 weeks ago while warning about an increase in death tolls. Hamedan officials announced a sharp increase in their stats, while Fars said “graphs show uptrend across the board.” Hormozgan authorities ask the government for assistance as they are short on hospital beds and staff in a “critical situation.” Head of Bandar Abbas Medical University warned about rising number of deaths and said the city is experiencing “unprecedented number of hospitalizations.”
Tehran is in the fifth wave too. Chairman of Corona Combating Committee in the capital announced 5,600 beds are occupied by COVID-19 patients, of which 1,340 were admitted in the past 24 hours in Tehran hospitals. Ministry of Health had announced only 1,710 hospitalizations across the country in the same time frame!
None of these grim reports stop the Islamic Republic Propaganda networks. According to Friday Prayers officials, the sermon will be held even in “red” cities. The only restriction is up to 70 are allowed! National COVID-19 Task Force rules bans all gatherings in red and orange cities.
Vaccination disaster continues. The regime uses its “homegrown” vaccine as a propaganda tool and trumpets dispatching shipments to “red” cities across the country. However, only 400,000 doses of the unproven COVIran Barekat is available! According to Red Crescent officials, 1million doses was imported today. Even though they did not mention the country of origin, all previous shipments of the Red Crescent Society were from China and the vaccine was Sinopharm. It is worth noting, National Task Force Spokesman had promised 1.5million doses!
The disorganized vaccination process continues. Ministry of Health announced total of 6,608,117 shots have been administered since February 9, while only 2,090,510 (2.48% of Iran population) are fully vaccinated with both doses of AstraZeneca (COVAX), Covaxin (India), Sputnik V (Russia) or Sinopharm (China). Criticism of the chaotic and slow process by medical professionals continues, too. Head of Shariati hospital in Tehran took a jab at the officials: “I wish we didn’t want to be heroes of the world, we didn’t give empty promises, we had a good relationship with other countries, we would buy reliable vaccines for our people. It’s being too late, if it already isn’t.”
The graphs depict the overwhelming 17months of coronavirus crisis in Iran which has gotten worse by Islamic Republic mismanagement at every turn. Iran Medical Board officials estimate the real numbers are at least 3 times higher than what is reported. Active and critical cases keep rising.
