The delay between the two doses of COVID-19 vaccines is getting longer, making many Iranians worried that their shots would be ineffective! At the same time, Islamic Republic officials continue to give false hopes and trumpet the most trivial news about vaccines. The regime’s Central Bank announced 200million Chinese Yuan payment for “another shipment of Sinopharm!” No more details were offered. And while it is claimed that COVIran Barekat vaccine is passing its third phase of clinical trials and is days away from “emergency authorization,” the officials announced the pre-publication of its animal trials, which contain some inconsistencies, small sample size and short period of observation for safety measures before sacrificing the animals.
Health experts continue to criticize the slow vaccination process and warn that may lead to the next wave of coronavirus in Iran. According to official data, only 765,213 (0.91% of population) have been fully vaccinated while 5,061,020 total shots have been administered since February 9. Meanwhile, Sima Sadat Lari, Ministry’s Spokesperson once again promised that college professors and eventually college students will be receiving jabs starting in August! However, she predicted that up to 50% of classes may be needed to be held online due to slow vaccination.
On the other hand, Hormozgan continues to experience a dire situation with another record-breaking daily death toll. According to Dr Norouzian, Hormozgan Medical University Spokesperson, 12 died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours in the province which is a record in the past 16 months.
Ministry of Health Spokesperson presented her daily manipulated data, claiming 9,996 tested positive for the novel coronavirus and 124 died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours in Iran. Sima Sadat Lari did not mention specific variants statistics, even though dozens of Indian (Delta) and South African (Beta) have been identified across the country. Iran Medical Board officials believe the real number of cases and deaths are at least 3 times higher than the daily reports. Graphs illustrate the 16-month mismanagement and incompetency of the Islamic Republic.
