Iran Coronavirus June 14 – Wit’s End of The Islamic Republic

COVID-19 human catastrophe is not something that could be covered up or manipulated more than it already has. This disaster could shorten the life of Islamic Republic regime.

Kurdistan, Hormozgan, Khuzestan, West Azerbaijan, Bushehr, Kermanshah and Sistan-Baluchestan are in “red” situation, according to Sima Sadat Lari, the Ministry of Health Spokesperson. The number of deaths in the past 24 hours is another alarming factor besides the increased basic reproduction rate (R0), growth factors and other graphs. 107 deaths is the highest number since April 13. Another terrifying news is the age of COVID-19 admitted patients in West Azerbaijan, Khorasan Razavi, Khuzestan and Hamedan which has decreased drastically and now even kids, adolescents and teenagers are admitted in ICUs and some even have passed away, including a 2-year-old kid in Torbat Jaam, Khorasan Razavi.

Kurdistan Governor announced new restrictions will be imposed. Kurdistan’s Medical University officials announced this coming way will be the worst week for the residents with increased number of deaths. Dr Ghaderi said the next 20 days will be “mourning days” for residents. He warned, “Take it seriously or you may be one of the ones to be mourned.” He also warned officials and said, “Wearing masks even in public spaces must become mandatory.” He continued, “Our 2 designated hospitals are in full capacity and we have to assign another hospital for COVID-19 patients. Sanandaj’s rep in parliament wrote a letter to the Governor asking for the province’s capital to be quarantined. Free traveling between provinces has been experts’ concern for many weeks now, and we have been writing about it almost every day but unfortunately, the Islamic Republic statesmen and women care more about the power and economy than people’s lives.

Kurdistan’s Governor on a video conference with Rouhani on June 13, has said there are more than 67,000 people in self-quarantine and 393 are admitted in hospitals! He said, “So far, our death rate has been less than the national average but this is before the “death week” and we may pass the national average then.”

Javanrood officials in Kermanshah are also sounding alarms for a catastrophe coming very soon! They reiterate premature lifting of restrictions and free travels are causing fast spread of the virus. There have been 638 tests done in this city with 480 positive results, meaning more than 75% of residents were infected. Dr Hosseini said, “There are 94 patients admitted at this moment which is more than our designated beds and hope people will cooperate more to weather this crisis together.” Qasr-e Shirin officials are also asking people to take the health instructions more seriously since the number of the novel coronavirus infections have soared to the highest level. The Mayor has made wearing mask in public places mandatory.

Zanjan’s Governor Office announces its capital, Zanjan, and Khoramdareh are in critical condition and the number of patients are increasing day by day. With 230 admitted patients in the province, the surge is undeniable. An official reported even the number of walk-in tests have increased by 10%.

Kohgiloyeh-Boyerahmad has joined the list of alarming provinces. While this province hadn’t reported many cases before, it is now warning its residents that the virus is spreading through the province because people are not following social distancing rules. Yasouj’s Medical University official said, “Even so, we are not at the peak yet.” He added, “We only have 120 ICU beds in the province which can only accommodate up to 5 COVID-19 patients. In late May, we had 6-12 daily patients but that has jumped to 30-45 these days.” That’s almost 4 times.

Head of Tabriz’s Medical University said the province is not at the peak yet but the increased number of cases is undeniable. “While about 8% of residents were involved with the virus before, in the past 2 weeks, it has multiplied, and people need to obey the rules more seriously.”

The bad news doesn’t end here. At the national level, the head of Blood Transfusion Organization announced shortage of all blood types in the blood bank, saying, “We only have enough blood for 5 days.” He added, “The hospitals are charging patients for blood products such as platelets but we don’t see the money. Hospitals around the country owe us around 200 Billion Toman ($47.5M).” On the other hand, he announced the results of studies show the plasma from recovered COVID-19 patients will reduce the death rate by 50%.

Different provinces signal bad news every day and with no restriction reimposed but actually more are lifted every week, the catastrophe will only worsen. This is not something that could be covered up or manipulated more than it already has. This disaster could shorten the life of Islamic Republic regime but not without many innocent people losing their lives to regime’s mismanagement and stupidity. Changing Spokespersons or nice talk is not going to help people suffering great deal every day.
