Islamic Republic officials have all forgotten about COVID-19 and its restrictions. Today, on the day of their sham “elections” no protocol was followed. IRIB has been streaming crammed people in a short space in order to create the illusion of “busy” poll stations while Iranians have been boycotting regime’s “selections.” Deputy Health Minister Harirchi claimed there is no worry about the coronavirus spreading in poll stations. National Task Force Spokesperson announced bringing ballot boxes to hospitals for COVID-19 patients to vote and the protocols “have been followed well!”
However, having a health inspector present at all polls does not equate proper enforcement of the protocols, especially in the southern provinces with the “red” counties and confirmed cases of Delta (Indian) variant. WHO warned this variant is becoming dominant in the world, which is the most transmittable of all known strains so far! Since the epidemic began in Iran 16 months ago, none of the restrictions have been implemented properly, leading to 4 deadly coronavirus waves across the country. On the other hand, Fars announces increasing number of cases and Hormozgan reported full hospitals! Sistan-Baluchestan has almost reached “black” status and Khuzestan struggles to keep up with rise of patients shortly after the previous wave!
Shortage of COVID-19 continues and the new batch of shots has not been distributed yet. However, Islamic Republic is vaccinating veterans, their spouses, and martyrs’ spouses when healthcare workers and firefighters are waiting for their turn! Since February 9, according to Ministry of Health, only 895,052 (1.06% of population) are fully vaccinated and total of 5,264,091 shots have been administered.
Despite the warnings and potential for the disaster caused by Delta variant, the Ministry of Health refuses to provide any details about the numbers specific to strains. The Spokesperson claimed 127 died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours in Iran while 10,100 tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Iran Medical Board officials estimate the real numbers at least 3 times higher than the daily reports. Graphs continue to vividly illustrate the history of 16-month mismanagement by the Islamic regime.
