National COVID-19 Task Force Spokesman announced his content for the protocols enforcement in poll stations across Iran while IRIB cameras showed a different story. On the other hand, according to provincial officials, coronavirus cases are on the rise.
Head of Ahvaz Medical University admitted to rise in outpatient cases from last week due to “elections” gatherings. Dr. Abolnejadian reported 6% increase in infections. Dr. Ahadi from Behbehan Medical College predicted another COVID-19 breakout in the coming 7-10 days due to those gatherings as well. Hormozgan officials announced traveling to the province is prohibited via all ways unless negative test of coronavirus is shown at the ports of entry. Dr. Norouzian from the medical university warned low compliance with the protocols, especially in government building and banks, is causing worsening conditions.
In the meantime, National Task Force Spokesman also admitted to the uptick in cases and hospitalizations in Bushehr, Kerman, Sistan-Baluchestan and Hormozgan. Dr. Raisi said if the same pattern as last year happens, there would be another breakout in the south due to the heat during summer. He “gave the good news” of addition of COVIran Barekat to the list of usable vaccines in the country and promised more vaccines would be imported next week. He stated PastoCoVac will be approved by this week or next week as well! Deputy Health Minister in Public Health continued the second dose of 70+ age group will be administered from tomorrow.
The vaccination was halted for about 3 weeks until 1million doses of Sinopharm from China arrived. Sinopharm has the lowest efficacy and most complications among all the available vaccines in the world. Considering the Delta variant becoming dominant in the world and it being evasive and the most transmittable among coronavirus strains, catastrophe is about to happen in Iran while Islamic Republic keeps all the variant specific data hidden.
On the other hand, the biggest national exam for students to enter universities is to be held on June 30 to July 3 across the country. Last year in the midst of a wave, it was held and caused a breakout later on, after back and forth between Ministry of Health and Ministry of Science! This year, with the Delta strain looming, another wave of coronavirus is in the making.
Right after the “elections,” Iran Power Company issued schedule of continued blackouts from June 19 to June 24 across Tehran for periods of 2 hours! COVID-19 patients at home and in hospitals remain at risk of suffocation using oxygen tanks dependent on electricity. Health and medical experts have warned about these blackouts and their impacts on patients multiple times.
Ministry of Health Spokesperson presented her daily undercounted figures. Sima Sadat Lari claimed 108 died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours in Iran while 6,448 tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Iran Medical Board officials estimate the real numbers are at least 3 times higher than the daily reports. The graphs show the history of 16months mismanagement of the crisis by the Islamic Republic regime.
