The highest number of daily cases since March 30 is announced today. Islamic Republic officials for weeks kept insisting the soaring daily cases was due to “active case finding”. In the past couple of days, however, they have no choice but to blame people. But Khamenei, Rouhani and other officials who at first hid the outbreak, then called the novel coronavirus is like flu, after that came lies about the statistics! Rouhani saying everything will go back to normal from “next Saturday”, and then came the time when they prioritize economy and their grip on power over the citizens’ lives. They all started to praise their “fantastic job and innovative methods” to “control and contain the virus”, making people to believe everything was normal. Everything has reopened and everybody is forced to go back to work! How could they still blame people is beyond my imagination.
Despite denial of Ministry’s officials, head of Bushehr’s Medical University says otherwise. He said, “The numbers are increasing in the province. We had only 500 cases till the end of last month (May 20) but today, thee are 1,126, 14 of which have passed away.” Even though all figures announced by the officials are fake and manipulated, they still show a boom in cases and deaths in the country. South provinces are all in alarming situation and the second wave is spreading north. South Khorasan and Khorasan Razavi officials have expressed their concerns about the uptrend in the numbers.
Even Eslamshahr, a city in Tehran province is showing increased number of admissions. When there is no travel restrictions, the virus will keep on going and nothing can stop it unless restrictions are back on! However, people blaming has been part of the regime’s “strategy” in combating COVID-19. The people have been the ones who has dealt with the crisis. But on April 11, when Rouhani said everything is fine and the country will reopen gradually, many experts have warned of this catastrophe and we have written about it every day.
In a program on IRIB’s Khabar Channel, Iraj Harirchi, Deputy Health Minister, said, “People need to understand the virus is not dead and is not going anywhere! This is a serious warning, if this is going to be our summer, our winter would be a much worse situation.” He continued, “We didn’t impose heavy restrictions but if people don’t use masks and follow social distancing rules, it will have serious repercussions for people and the country.” At the same time, Tehran Bus Company has announced it’s compulsory to wear masks in buses in Tehran Metropolis. This directive is out after about 45 days that Tehran has reopened!
3,117 new cases and 64 deaths since yesterday should be troublesome for Iranians, but many may say, “I either would die of COVID-19 or starvation. I choose COVID-19, since there is a chance I may survive.” This is from the people of one of the countries with the most oil & gas reserves and mineral mines in the world. This is the situation Islamic Republic has created for Iranians, “damned if you do, damned if you don’t.”
Graphs, reproduction rate (R0) and growth factors have been a great indicator since day one if they weren’t ignored, even by using the undercounted numbers provided by Ministry of Health.
