4 days after the sham “elections,” Islamic Republic officials issue warnings about Delta (Indian) variant of coronavirus outbreaks in the south. Head of Ahvaz Medical University asked Khuzestan residents not to travel to other southern provinces due to increasing number of cases and COVID-19 hospitalizations. Fars officials warn the rise in infections in the province is a red alarm for the upcoming fifth wave! Head of Shiraz Medical University announced province hospitals are being prepared for the next wave as hospitalizations increase.
Zanjan Medical University official sounded the alarm for the province by reporting spikes in cases, positivity rate and hospitalizations across the province. Dr. Salmanzadeh, head of Aban Medical College reported increasing number of infections in southwest regions of Khuzestan. Kermanshah officials announced only 20% of people comply with COVID-19 protocols and this is a serious warning about the fifth wave of coronavirus. Head of Hormozgan Medical University cited 27% uptick in hospitalizations, especially ICU, and predicted this number will increase in the upcoming days.
As officials have begun to blame everything on people again, head of Tehran University in an opinion piece rebuked the Islamic Republic officials for blaming people! Dr Nili-Ahmadabadi wrote, unfortunately in Iran, only Ministry of Health officials talk to people about the pandemic while it requires experts in communications to convince people about the danger of the novel coronavirus. However, Ministry of Health has tried to threat and scare people, but one day people’s fear will disappear! He also mentioned people’s relationship with the government has been broken and there is no trust left!
On the other hand, COVID-19 vaccination in Iran continues to be chaotic and slow. People are still not sure where to go to receive their second shots and the chaos in vaccination centers has made them a “breakout center.” According to official data, since February 9, total of 5,376,624 shots have been administered while only 972,871 have been fully vaccinated.
The homegrown vaccine, COVIran Barekat, developed and manufactured by the “Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order,” is set to make its way to the vaccination process. However, the unproven vaccine with no published results, is being sold to the Ministry of Health for $8.5 for each dose (today’s free market rate), more than 4 times more than AstraZeneca! The “Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order” is a foundation under direct control of Islamic Republic “Supreme Leader” who has banned the import of US and UK made vaccines.
Ministry of Health Spokesperson admits to the “serious uptrend” of COVID-19 hospitalizations infections in Bushehr, Sistan-Baluchestan, Hormozgan and Kerman, sounding the alarm that “red” status is expanding in the south. Sima Sadat Lari reported 19% increase in the number of outpatient cases across Iran as well, warning the fifth wave threat is imminent. She claimed 11,716 tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours in Iran and 116 died of COVID-19. Sadat Lari refused to provide any details on the variants. Iran Medical Board officials believe the real numbers are at least 3 times higher than the daily reports. Graphs show that the fifth wave is being formed.
