Hormozgan officials reported a record breaking number of coronavirus cases in the province since the epidemic began 16 months ago. According to Dr. Norouzian, 982 tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours. However, since the only laboratory to sequence specimens is in Tehran, locals are unable to announced the specific variants of cases. Indian (Delta) variant cases have been confirmed in Hormozgan, Bushehr, Qom, West Azerbaijan, Sistan-Baluchestan, Kerman and Khuzestan. In the meantime, Zanjan authorities announced increasing COVID-19 hospitalizations and cases in Abhar. Kermanshah reports continuous “red” status in one of the counties since people have been using masks less!
Ministry of Health updated the list of “high risk” areas in the country. According to the new “coloring map,” 16 counties are “red,” 3 more from the previous update. These regions are in Kermanshah, Hormozgan, Sistan-Baluchestan, Khuzestan and Khorasan Razavi. The Ministry warns about the spread of Indian (Delta) and South African (Beta) variants across Iran and start of the next COVID-19 wave.
While National COVID-19 Task Force had announced travel ban between provinces during the holidays (4-5 June), Saeed Mohammad who was disqualified by the Guardian Council to be a final “candidate” in the upcoming sham “presidential elections,” traveled to Tabriz to campaign for Ebrahim Raisi, the Chief of regime’s Judiciary. In his travel, gatherings were formed where none of the protocols were observed, simply breaking all the rules.

Iran Medical Board officials estimate the real number of cases and deaths are at least 3 times higher than the daily reports.
