As reported before, the next wave of coronavirus is getting momentum in the south of Iran, especially Hormozgan. Hormozgan Medical University official dismissed Ministry of Health’s categorization of its cities, saying in the university’s eyes, all counties in the province are in “red” status. Dr. Hosseinpour added the situation in Hormozgan is beyond any “coloring” criteria and if nothing is done, it will become a COVID-19 catastrophe. He confirmed number of daily coronavirus cases is breaking records every day, with more than 1,000! He admitted outpatient cases have increased significantly and warned that younger individuals are dying of the disease! Hosseinpour predicted the uptrend continues due to “elections” gatherings, and sounded the alarm for filled hospitals in several cities.
At the same time, Hormozgan Medical University Spokesperson shared some alarming stats. Dr. Norouzian reported 40% rise in positive tests in the past 2 weeks. She announced COVID-19 deaths have increased by 22% and COVID-19 hospitalizations rose by 8% from last week! Deputy Governor in Politics and Security warned Hormozgan’s hospitals are reaching their full capacity and said the fifth wave would emerge from the province.
On the other hand, vaccination is a distant wish for many Iranians! According to officials in Ahvaz, there is no more vaccines available and they are waiting for a new shipment! They have been waiting for more than a week! Fars authorities also announced there is no vaccine available and the process is on hold from tomorrow! Ministry of Health official data indicate a significant decrease in daily jabs. Since February 9, only 579,934 (0.69% of population) have been fully vaccinated while 4,758,059 total shots are administered.
Despite all the warnings and local reports, Ministry of Health keeps manipulating the data to fit the regime’s agenda for their upcoming sham “elections!” While Iran has been grappling with the epidemic for more than 16 months and millions of people have been negatively impacted by the virus, the Islamic Republic “presidential candidates” did not even mention the coronavirus in their first “debate” charade. Nobody in the system has any plan to end the pandemic in Iran even though it is dying down in other countries.
The Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health claimed 6,442 tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours in Iran and 128 died of COVID-19 but did not provide specific variant information, even though Indian (Delta) and South African (Beta) cases have been confirmed in 6 provinces.
