Even though the Islamic Republic Ministry of Health’s manipulated data show a decline in the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths, provincial officials continue to warn about the devastating situations across Iran, especially in Khuzestan, Hormozgan and Kohgiloyeh-Boyerahmad. Dr. Alavi from Ahvaz Medical University said the new UK variant is 10 times faster in spreading, has shorter incubation period causing severe symptoms in 48 hours, hospitalization rate is 8-9 times higher and it is 5-7 times deadlier than the Wuhan coronavirus. He admitted this wave is longer and more dreadful than the last one in Khuzestan, hospitals are filled with patients and enormous pressure is on healthcare staff. Alavi reiterated 34% of patients arrive at the ER dead or die there in less than 24hours.
Qeshm officials announced 15 of 50 specimens taken from Deyrestan village turned out positive for the novel coronavirus, with 5 being the new UK variant. That translates to 30% positivity rate in a small community in Hormozgan, causing the whole village to be quarantined. In the meantime, Hormozgan Medical University announced the total number of UK variant cases in the province reached 23. Head of Yasouj Medical University warned about the overwhelming increase in COVID-19 patients. Sisakht residents who lost their homes to earthquake weeks ago, are still struggling to cope with their loss and find a home, living in a devastating situation, while Islamic regime officials have forgotten about them.
Despite admission of Iran Medical Board officials that real number of COVID-19 cases and deaths are at least 3-4 times higher than what Ministry of Health reports every day, Sima Sadat Lari continues her daily charade. Today, she claimed 53 died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours in Iran while 8,088 tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Daily number of PCR tests decreased while positivity rate remains above 13% and only 13.9% of total population being tested. Critical and active cases continue to rise with the biggest jump in active cases in the past few months, as seen on the graphs.
