2,111 new cases are confirmed since yesterday and 62 have died of COVID-19! Jahanpur said, “Of the new cases, 1,687 were walk-ins or in close contact with other patients and 424 have been admitted.” Since the beginning of the outbreak, only people with symptoms have been tested! The number of cases are increasing despite what the Islamic Republic officials pretend.
According to the official stats, Iran is the 10th country on the list of most infected cases in the world. The country is completely back to normal even though more and more people are infected on a daily basis. Today, Banks Coordination Council has announced that all bank workers have to go back to their jobs from May 21, and no remote job is allowed unless they are in the high risk category!
Khuzestan’s situation is getting worse and the governor announced a total lockdown for 5 days, starting May 21. In the past 24 hours, 515 new cases have been confirmed in the province. The store owners and patients who don’t follow quarantine rules will be prosecuted. Dezful prosecutor had announced imprisonment of up to 1 year if the rules are not obeyed.
Road and Urban Development Minister said using masks is mandatory in all public transportation vehicles including airplanes. He added, “Anybody entering Iran from Europe and North America will be tested and agree to a 14-day self-quarantine.” In response to resuming flights to/from China, he said, “We will inform people about that, we never have and nor will hide anything from people.” This is contrary to the fact that Mahan Air has continued its flights to/from China even after it was banned. Many consider Mahan Air as the source of the coronavirus outbreak in Iran.
Ministry of Health has issued directives for University of Medical Sciences across the country on how to reopen their doors and restrictions on dorms. Cafeterias will be closed and maximum of 2 students are allowed in each dormitory room. The attendance is mandatory for most students, depending on their year!
The basic reproduction rate hasn’t changed and growth factors have been consistently above 1 since day 1! Khuzestan has faced this situation right after the restrictions were lifted, Lorestan, Kermanshah, Kerman, Fars, Sistan-Baluchestan and Bushehr are next in line! Tehran’s red situation hasn’t changed!
