COVID-19 continues to ravage through Iran while Islamic Republic officials keep manipulating the numbers and only warn people that the next wave may be on the way, considering the Indian and South African strains of coronavirus, the religious gatherings including Friday Prayers, gatherings for regime’s sham “elections” and slow vaccination process. While Saeed Namaki had promised to reach 300,000 daily administered doses, the daily doses have decreased continuously since May 16.
Following the ban on vaccination reporting, everybody from other organizations other than Ministry of Health has stopped providing data, including the process in importing new COVID-19 vaccines which are supposed to arrive in the next few days. In the meantime, Islamic Republic officials boastfully claim they have not been vaccinated to show their solidarity with ordinary citizens, contrary to other countries’ officials taking the jabs to encourage people to vaccinate. But since the regime’s “Supreme Leader” banned UK and US made vaccines, they have been unable to provide enough vaccines to Iranians in time, causing uncountable COVID-19 deaths.
Rostam Ghasemi, one of the potential candidates for the sham “presidential elections,” proudly says he did not get the vaccine that was brought for him by one of his friends from Russia! He claims it expired in the refrigerator and then thrown out. Other than the fact that it shows corruption and nepotism even in times of crisis, it also indicates how inconsiderate the officials are. The same vaccine which people are waiting for months to save their lives, is thrown out! If a potential candidate has been gifted a Sputnik V, it is naive to think that higher ranking officials have not received a vaccine as they claim! Previously, Khamenei, Rouhani and other officials made similar assertions as a point of pride!
According to Ministry of Health, since February 9, only 439,293 (0.52% of population) have been fully vaccinated and 2,806,188 have received a shot. Sima Sadat Lari also claimed 229 died of COVID-19 in Iran in the past 24 hours while 12,428 tested positive for the novel coronavirus. She did not provide any details on specific strains. Iran Medical Board officials have admitted that the real figures are at least 3 times higher than the daily reports. As seen on the graphs, the fourth wave continues in Iran.
