Tehran Governor voices his concern over people thinking everything is back to normal, Lorestan is in critical condition, 20 out of 28 counties in Khuzestan are designated “red”, but Rouhani says, “Our controlling of the coronavirus despite sanctions and all the hurdles, is praised by other countries and this would be recorded in the history.” That last part he’s right, the cover-up, lies, corruption and mishandling of this crisis is being recorded every day!
Head of Kurdistan’s Medical University reports 100 cases in Sanandaj, the capital, in the last 24 hours, saying there is an uptrend in cases in the province. Sanandaj is designated red now. He asked people to stay in but forgot to mention how this would be possible with every business and government office open! The same goes for other provinces seeing an “alarming” rate in increased cases. Kianush Jahanpur admitted Isfahan, East and West Azerbaijan, Hormozgan, Sistan-Baluchestan, Lorestan, and Kermanshah are on the border of becoming critical. However, it’s not possible to have the whole country and businesses open but ask people to follow “social distancing” protocols! How are people supposed to take it seriously when Rouhani and other officials in state-owned media keep insisting everything is under control?
Kermanshah Governor stated his concern over the fast spread of COVID-19 across his province, saying,”Even with that in mind, closing wedding venues is not rational, because then people will have their ceremonies at houses which would make the social distancing even more complicated, and not possible to monitor the situation.”
In the meantime, Hojjat Nazari, a member of Tehran’s City Council, said with all restrictions lifted there is a chance of second wave hitting the capital. According to Ministry of Health, traffic rules will be in effect in Tehran from Saturday, June 6, which would make people to use public transport more and therefore more chance of the novel coronavirus spreading through the city.
2,516 new cases and 63 deaths since yesterday shows how “controlled” the disease is. More than 50 people dying every day and it has become so routine that it doesn’t even make it through to the first page of many media outlets. The state-owned media in Iran act like nothing is wrong and even the daily “press conference” with Ministry of Health officials has stopped. The 50 plus people dying daily are somebody’s loved ones and there’s only Islamic Republic to blame for the COVID-19 catastrophe, 100 days have passed already, and still no change!
