“More deaths in upcoming weeks” is what Ministry of Health Spokesperson predicted as COVID-19 devastating the entire country. According to the undercounted and discredited stats of Ministry of Health, 434 died of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, setting another record for daily death toll! At the time time, 7,719 tested positive for the deadly virus. Sima Sadat Lari mentioned all provinces being in critical status!
Active cases, deaths and critical cases keep rising across Iran. Health experts and officials reiterate the situation is dire and more restrictions with vigorous enforcement are needed. 25 of 31 provinces started to restrict traveling crossing their borders but it all seem to be a bit too late, and not all provinces are doing it, making it chaotic and confusing for people. Also not all residents of a province use that province’s license plate!
Testing remains a major issue and despite promises by officials, Iran is one of the countries with the lowest per capita tests. According to head of Iran Medical Council, Iran needs at least 200,000 per day tests to find cases early and quarantine them before they spread the disease by roaming freely in the society. In the meantime, after 8.5 months, the officials are thinking of using contact tracing to identify and trace cases!
Saeed Namaki praised his work and of course Khamenei! Despite Central Bank announcement that they had paid the Ministry the balance of the 1Billion Euro from National Development Fund, Health Minister said he’s received only 50% of the funds and in installments! Namaki claimed the novel coronavirus has mutated again making it more virulent. But at the same time, he said he will reveal a “winning card” in the next month which would help containing the virus. He was referring to Salami’s plan to go door to door looking for “home of coronavirus” and “attacking it” by Basijis.
