Staggering numbers of daily cases and deaths are eventually become the new “normal” which in itself, is a huge red flag! Sima Sadat Lari keeps appearing in front of cameras to announce her undercounted and discredited stats every day! In the past 24 hours, 10,339 new cases of coronavirus infections and 453 deaths due to COVID-19 were recorded in Iran! The entire country remains in critical condition.
Raisi, Deputy Health Minister in Health Affairs, said serology tests are sent to provinces for free and “we’re going to screen as many people as we can.” This is against his own statement: “Serology tests are useless for diagnosing COVID-19.” He said this has become one of the priorities after meeting with Khamenei! However, he didn’t mention if this approach is useful and has been done before, why it was suspended or why Khamenei’s blessing was needed?! 9 months have passed since epidemic began in Iran and the novel coronavirus keeps raging through the country.
Provincial officials continue reporting devastating situation at hospitals, especially with depressed and burntout staff! Bam Nursing Organization released an open letter begging people to abide by health protocols saying, “We can’t breathe anymore.” According to some stats, close to 30% of nurses are on sick leave at any given time, overloading hospital resources!
Today was the first day of implementing the martial law-like lockdown after 6PM! Every day for a month, all businesses across the country are to close after 6PM or face hefty fines and/or permanent closure. While the benefits of this plan is still unknown, it could even be seen as counter intuitive, since it would lead to people hanging out inside their houses, spreading the virus even more. Some have linked this measure to Islamic Republic trying to prevent another uprising like November 2019.
Basic Reproduction Rate (R0) keep rising every day while graphs show the ever growing number of active cases. Critical cases are on an uptrend as well. In the meantime, Islamic Republic is waiting for a miracle! Testing remains in the same 38-39,000 range, one of the lowest per capita in the world, while Saeed Namaki lies, “We have increased the number of daily tests from 25,000 to 45,000!” The testing graph shows daily number of tests since epidemic began.
