After 9 months and losing more than 41,400 Iranians, Islamic Republic officials have decided to quarantine Tehran and other cities in “red” situations. While the number of deaths could be up to 20 times higher than what’s being reported, and officially at least 3 times higher, Saeed Namaki praises his work and couldn’t be more proud of the outcomes of Islamic Republic controlling coronavirus in Iran! In an “agreement” signed today, between the Ministry of Health and Iran Red Crescent, it’s decided that every single home in the country becomes a “health base.”
In the “Every home, a health base” plan, Basij would be involved as well. According to the plan which apparently was valid from 5 days ago, the number of deaths, admissions and cases are already predicted! As if everything in Iran would go according to the plan, especially when it comes to one of the most unpredictable crises the world has ever encountered. Then, the question becomes, if it is possible, why wasn’t it done before now?
Furthermore, there are many unclear aspects about the lockdown plan which haven’t been explained, yet. The government employees still haven’t received any directive as to how they would work during the 2-week lockdown. The vague language in reports say, 1/3 of the workers have to still go to work. There’s also no explanation about essential businesses such as supermarkets and drugstores. However, Saeed Namaki said the Ministry would be using hotels and motels to host people who can’t afford a place but need to be quarantined. He also included the elderly who don’t have a care taker.
Hospitals across the country continue to report full capacity and burntout staff. The number of daily cases broke another record. According to Sima Sadat Lari, 459 died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours while 12,543 tested positive for coronavirus. The number of tests increased by less than a thousand while the positivity rate increased to 30.68% from 28.21 the day before!
The government has lost the trust of its people by making wrong, hypocritical and fictional decisions over 9 months. It is trying to make people believe in it again by spreading false hopes. For example, head of Tehran Medical University has said on national TV that two domestic COVID-19 vaccines are being tested on human, and they could be approved by winter! However, Iran FDA denied giving permission for any human trial of COVID-19 vaccines!
Basic Reproduction Rate (R0) jumped to 2.90, indicating the accelerated spread of coronavirus in Iran. Graphs depict the unstoppable COVID-19 vividly. Active cases keep rising while recoveries fluctuate from day to day. All these stats are based on the undercounted numbers provided by the Islamic Republic.
