A day after Saeed Namaki criticized his deputy in research and technology, Dr Malekzadeh tendered his resignation and rebuked the Health Minister! Malekzadeh, in his resignation letter mentioned his reasoning as “gross negligence and management full of controversies in controlling COVID-19 crisis, nonscientific and arrogant claims about COVID-19 vaccine by the Minister, and baseless claims about efficacy of herbal and traditional medicine on treating COVID-19.” He added, the Minister’s “full of flaws plans” to control the coronavirus epidemic in Iran has cost many Iranians their lives.
Former deputy Health Minister in research and technology continued his letter by saying Saeed Namaki has been hasty in claiming COVID-19 vaccine discovery has progressed in Iran while it’s been in the primary phases! Malekzadeh also criticized Namaki on not using expert advice on decisions. Saeed Namaki’s boastful claims have been reported by IranTrue in the past 9 months, he’s been praising his own work and Khamenei’s support while blaming everything on people and other officials not listening to him! Chaos, mismanagement and corruption are not limited to Namaki or any specific regime’s official, the Islamic Republic is rotten from its root.
In the meantime, the entire country is grappling with the novel coronavirus. While Tehran reports a slight decrease in the number of admissions, many provinces have broken their daily records. Dr Tavakoli, deputy head of Tehran Corona Combating Committee, said the “lockdown plan” is mostly to unload the heavy lift of flood of patients on healthcare staff. He also said, despite that this plan might help in the short term, “we may see 4-figure daily death numbers during the winter.”
Jan Babaei, deputy Health Minister in treatment affairs, said some provinces must start admitting patients in inpatient rehabilitation facilities in early stages of COVID-19 so when they arrive at hospitals they’re not in critical condition!
Sima Sadat Lari reported 13,260 Iranians have tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours while 479 have died of COVID-19. In her discredited and undercounted data, she mentioned 5,756 critical cases which is much less than what’s estimated based on local reports. Ministry of Health only reports cases who have tested positive for coronavirus and not the ones diagnosed clinically. Number of tests have decreased from the day before while number of cases showed a small increased. Positivity rate increased from 32.08% to 33.74%!
At the same time, Basic Reproduction Rate (R0) jumped to 3.50, meaning the spread of virus has accelerated. Graphs show the soaring number of active cases. In the past 24 hours, Ministry of Health has recorded 7,460 new hospitalizations, signifying the overwhelming load on hospitals and their staff.
