Islamic Republic Health Minister, once again, boastfully claimed the COVID-19 has slowed down in Iran but the next wave could be around the corner! On the one hand, he claimed the novel coronavirus is controlled but on the other hand, warned that “we must learn to live with it!” He wrongfully asserted 70% of Iranians have received 2 doses of these vaccines, while according to the Ministry of Health data, since February 9, only 45,942,308 (54.69% of Iran population) have received 2 shots. The majority of shots has been the ineffective and unsafe Chinese Sinopharm, which WHO recommends 3 doses to be considered “fully vaccinated!” However, so far only 902,909 (1.07% of population) have been jabbed with 3 doses!
Eynollahi also announced 5million doses of COVPars, “developed by Razi Institute”, are delivered to the Ministry of Health. He expressed hopes that “domestic vaccines” will make Iran independent from importing any vaccine in the future! He did say there was no time to wait for the homegrown vaccines to be available in the quantities needed. Khamenei banned US and UK made vaccines in January, promoting COVIran Barekat “developed” by the foundation owned by himself which received billions of dollars in taxpayers’ money. However, that project failed miserably. Today, Agriculture Minister said the mission to manufacture COVID-19 in Iran should have been given to Razi Institute considering its long standing history, but it did not happen. In this chaos and corruption, thousands of people lost their lives and “tsunami of deaths” happened.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 cases in South Khorasan, Kerman and Sistan-Baluchestan continue to rise. Health experts had warned about Delta Plus and other variants that could enter the country through open borders! But Islamic Republic, with its crumbling economy, reopened borders without any precautions.
The Ministry of Health Spokesperson claimed 96 have died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours and 4,850 tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Professor of Epidemiology at Tehran University believes these numbers must be multiplied by 7 and Civil Registration Organization data show more than 309,000 have died of the disease since February 2020. Graphs illustrate the ongoing crisis in Iran and forming of the new wave.
