Iraj Harirchi, Deputy Health Minister, says 35% of deaths in Iran are due to COVID-19. He also confirmed our reports regarding use of Russian vaccine in Iran. Harirchi said, “COVID-19 vaccine will be produced with the help of other countries. Negotiations with them is in progress and will be publicized when successful.” On the other hand, Sima Sadat Lari confirmed that Russia is one of those countries. Saeed Namaki, the Health Minister, said next week human clinical trials will be started.
Fars, Zanjan and Kohgiloyeh-Boyerahmad have broken their daily death records again. 47 have died of coronavirus in Fars, alone. Tehran remains in “beyond red” situation. Alborz reports 1 death every hour in the province. In the meantime, some small cities report decreasing traffic and number of cases when the 9-4 curfew is in process. However, Mashhad, the second biggest city in the country, reports more than 7,000 “illegal” cars on the streets every day. Most Iranians can’t afford to close their business.
Ministry of Health Spokesperson announced another record breaking daily cases number. 13,961 new cases tested positive in the past 24 hours while 482 died of COVID-19. 5,849 critical cases have been reported by the Ministry. Testing remains in the same range and the positivity rate stayed the same compared to yesterday.
Basic Reproduction Rate (R0) increased to 4.11 indicating the devastating COVID-19 situation in Iran. Active cases soared to 228,382. The graphs depict the waves and growth factors show unstoppable human catastrophe in the country.
