Head of Virology Research Center at Beheshti University in Tehran warned about premature reopening of schools, universities and businesses while sixth wave is shaping up and the “infection rate is still high.” Dr. Naji rebuked the government’s persistence on lifting restrictions prematurely, “It is extremely dangerous.” He admitted the case finding process is very weak in Iran. He also criticized the Ministry of Health for not sharing information with experts, saying, “with the current system and coloring map, we’re always behind the COVID-19.”

Professor of Epidemiology at Tehran University believes these numbers must be multiplied by 7 and Civil Registration Organization data show more than 302,000 have died of the disease since February 2020.
