More provinces report increasing number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. Islamic Republic Ministry of Health updated its list of “high risk” areas with most hospitalizations per population. The “red” regions in Iran have increased by 7 to 16. As IranTrue had reported in previous days, East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan, Fars, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, Kohgiloyeh-Boyerahmad, Markazi and Yazd are provinces with “red” cities. “Orange” counties have increased by 13 to 119, while 227 areas are considered “yellow” and 86 are colored “blue!”
Shiraz Medical University recorded 206 hospitalizations and 10 deaths in the past 24 hours alone. Khuzestan announced more than 450 outpatients on a daily basis, signaling the start of the sixth wave in the province.
While Tehran is categorized as “orange” by the flawed “coloring system” of the regime, which is the second highest risk area, the Islamic Republic held Friday Prayers in the capital after about 20 months of suspension. Health experts have warned about any gathering, and believe Arbaeen and Safar mourning rituals have led to the sixth wave.
Meanwhile, the schools are to reopen from next week as well, even though only about 50% of students have received 1 dose of the unapproved and ineffective Sinopharm. The Ministry of Health announced, since February 9, total of 78,665,265 shots have been administered in Iran and only 28,291,777 (33.68% of population) have received both doses of these vaccines.
The Ministry of Health Spokesperson claimed 165 have died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours and 11,064 tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Professor of Epidemiology at Tehran University believes these numbers must be multiplied by 7 and Civil Registration Organization data show more than 300,000 have died of the disease since February 2020. Graphs illustrate the ongoing crisis in Iran and forming of the new wave.
