Ministry of Health Spokesperson announced 5,471 new cases of COVID-19 in Iran confirmed with PCT test since yesterday and 304 deaths in the past 24 hours. That’s third day in a row with more than 5,000 new cases and 4th day with more than 300 deaths in a day. The entire country remains in critical condition and so does Islamic Republic’s inaction.
President of Islamic Republic, Hassan Rouhani, said there’s nothing more to be done other than people following the protocols. In the meantime, state-controlled media have started reporting from roads showing people traveling in the anticipation of next week holidays. There has been no travel ban between provinces for next week.
Dr Zali, head of Corona Combating Committee in Tehran, said there are new restrictions that would go into effect soon. He said half of employees are to be working from home in the hope of reducing inner city traffic. He also said his team had sent a request to National Task Force for approval in order for businesses, banks, government buildings to rotate their opening hours and days for a few weeks.
Hospitals continue to struggle with shortage of resources, from medication to beds, from nursing staff to ICU equipment. Several provinces including Zanjan, Lorestan, Kermanshah and West Azerbaijan have banned all gatherings and violators will be charged criminally! Lorestan have announced “beyond red” situation. Khuzestan hospitals have reported full capacity and requesting for more beds and equipment sent to them.
Active cases keep rising while most of them are in worse condition compared to previous waves. According to health experts, this is not even the peak of the disease in the 3rd wave yet! Critical cases increase every day and even based on the manipulated and highly discredited data of Ministry of Health, there are more critical patients than Iran’s ICU beds. Testing remains in the same range despite officials’ claims that they’ve increased the capacity.
Basic Reproduction Rate (R0) increased 2 more points, but still ignored by the officials. Graphs indicate the ongoing human catastrophe in Iran, while Islamic Republic awaits a miracle.
