Another day of record breaking for coronavirus in Iran. According to Ministry of Health Spokesperson 6,191 people have tested positive and 296 died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. That’s the highest number of daily cases since the epidemic began in Iran. Sima Sadat Lari also reported the entire country in critical condition.
More than 8 months since February 19 have passed, even based on the manipulated and highly undercounted data by Islamic Republic, there hasn’t been a single week or month of virus slowing down in the country. According to Hossein Ghashlaghi, a member of Supreme Council of Medical Boards, the number of deaths in Iran are at least 4 times higher than what Ministry of Health reports every day! He said this is easily obtainable by reports of “our colleagues in hospitals.” That means, so far, there have been more than 130,464 (4×32,616) deaths due to COVID-19. Different sources tell a different figure for the dead and infected but all agree on one thing: Whatever Ministry of Health reports is hugely undercounted, as low as 1/20!
Today was another religious holiday in the country, with some people traveling and some gather in “holy shrines” and mosques to commemorate death of “11th Imam of Shias.” There has been no action taken against any of these high risk behaviors but as the numbers are going high, the government would use these scapegoats to put the blame somewhere else, anything but regime’s mismanagement!
Hospitals continue struggling to admit and serve all COVID-19 patients. Healthcare workers are exhausted, disappointed, unpaid and burntout! Coronavirus doesn’t spare healthcare staff, and according to officials in Alborz alone, 20 nurses test positive for the virus! The rate is the same across the board.
Basic Reproduction Rate (R0) increased 2 more points while graphs depict the ever growing number of active and critical cases! Growth factors have never reached below 1, indicating ongoing human catastrophe for more than 8 months. Number of tests have increased ever so slightly that after this long haul is negligible.
