Highest number of daily cases was reported today. Although Islamic Republic has been reporting undercounted, manipulated and fake stats from the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic in Iran, still 3,712 new cases, soaring number of active cases and 29 provinces in critical condition could only mean a human catastrophe while media is busy reporting on sanctions which have already been in place! Whether UN sanctions are back or not, doesn’t make that much difference in the lives of Iranians who are dying from Islamic Republic’s inaction and incompetency!
Other than hospitals reporting they have to add extra beds to their COVID patients, and cities designating more hospitals just to coronavirus infected cases, reports of decreased average of patients’ age is more alarming than ever! It has been decreasing each wave to the next. Officials from different provinces admit Muharram gatherings, Konkour and other national exams, not banning traveling between provinces and schools reopening are among the major reasons for resurgence of the virus!
Alborz, Lorestan and Khuzestan report students from different grades tested positive. Imagine those students having contacts with other kids at school and their families and teacher and this chain has no end. But underdeveloped provinces and more than 3 million students don’t have the necessary equipment for online classes through “Shad Network” and have to hold in-person classes. On the other hand, Bushehr’s officials say they have to have in-person classes because “Shad Network” is subpar and has a lot of problems! Islamic Republic had 7 months to build a network for students, spent millions of dollars and this is the result, making everything worse! Many teachers, even in Tehran, use What’s App and Telegram to teach and check homework of their students. The same technologies that Khamenei and regime have been badmouthing for years!
In the meantime, head of Alborz Medical University says it’s not their job to block the roads out of the province and National Task Force has apparently no intention of doing it. The Task Force and at the very top, Rouhani and Namaki only like to blame people for traveling. The situation is so dreadful, that Ahvaz Medical University official says any respiratory sign/symptom should be considered COVID-19 until proven otherwise! He emphasized if there’s any symptom, whatever it is, just stay home. Hospitals report shortage of ICU beds, overwhelmed and exhausted healthcare staff who are not able to continue long shifts days in a row.
Basic Reproduction Rate (R0) has signaled this catastrophe for months, with today’s stats, it increased another point. The graphs predict devastating weeks ahead of Iranians. Number of admissions is more than recoveries, making hospitals even more overwhelmed. However, critical cases remain a mystery, maybe because it must stay below the total number of available ICU beds in the country! Another reason for Ministry of Health to stop providing individual provincial stats since March 22. But Islamic Republic is happy to stay in power for a few more days, whatever happens, happens!
