Active cases rose again and the same 28 provinces remain in critical status. Based on highly criticized and manipulated data by Ministry of Health, there have been 2,313 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 127 deaths in the past 24 hours. There has been no change in the crisis while every day an official adds to the chaos with his/her controversial or mindless comment.
It’s been 7 months that “officially” coronavirus has entered the country and during all this time, nothing has been done to curtail the spread but at times with wrong or intentional decisions, Islamic Republic has made it worse. Schools reopening has become a major issue for students and their parents, like a vicious cycle. While the schools can’t be 100% in-person due to the COVID-19 situation, but the needed infrastructure required to have online classes are not available either. More than 3.5 million students don’t have access to a smart phone or tablet to use the “Shad Network,” and the ones that do, can’t afford to pay for data packages. The ones that can afford, are not satisfied with the level of education and “Shad Network” in general since it lacks a lot of features to feel like a classroom!
On the other hand, parents have to go to work and can’t afford to leave their children at home alone. Islamic Republic has had time to prepare for all this, or instead of sending money to Syria and Yemen could have provided phones/tablets for students in need. These are all problems in one aspect of COVID-19 and regime’s mishandling of it. Let’s not forget the psychological effects not going to school has on children or the incredible negative impact of having to drop out!
In the meantime, novel coronavirus continues to ravage the country while regime watches thousands of Iranians losing their lives! Graphs indicate the ongoing catastrophe and Basic Reproduction Rate (R0) shows the gloomy future, while increased active cases foresees the increased number of deaths!
